You'll always get apps swapping. But what I meant was that even then, I'll be using a couple of apps at any one time and you'll only really see any delay in swapping in/out if you're constantly switching between apps.
But I think most people wouldn't find the swapping a hindrance if, say, you're running a download, listening to music, and surfing simultaneously, with outlook open in the background for your email.
Yes, the more the better. Just if people are on a budget, this doesn't need to be a priority purchase from the outset unless actually using it the way you do throws up problems. But as you say, my 2 cents IMHO!The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

Hello everybody,
The laptop I ordered last Monday never arrived, when I checked with Dell yesterday they said they had no evidence of it being ordered and to call back this morning as they couldn't access their computers.
I ordered a 1300 Inspiron with the bigger screen and battery for £347 this morning at 8:30am but now I'm starting to have doubts as the reference number I've been given is only 8 digits long and I was not given a customer number, nor was I asked for my email address in order to get a confirmation. I had asked for the Indian sounding lady's name but not sure I got the correct spelling.
The saga continues...

Can anyone tell me what the deal is with the 90day warranty? If the machine goes pop after 90 days are you on your own?

No but after 90 days you have to pay the shipping to them and back to yourself to get it repaired. Its a risk for anyone not IT minded..... but it IS a very cheap laptop.....
Spot on Sid  I would SAY - dont order the memory immediately. Get your laptop in.... have a go.... see what its like. Then order the memory if you want it. Me - I am used to 2 gig on my desktop so I did notice it :rotfl:0 -
For anyone with a slightly bigger budget to spare i have just added this post to the Cheapest Laptop Hunt.

Got a phone call from DEll last night to say that they had contacted UPS about address change. Just tracked my laptop on UPS website and no change there so seems like i'll be back on phone (yet again) to Dell. Thats now 5 days and counting. I see no light at the end of the tunnel.0

The reply was that the warranty is in addition to your statutory rights under the Sale of Goods Act (SGA) and similar legislation.
Post sales support is guaranteed to you in law, however the '1 year warranty' is not a statutory right. The SGA places few specific time limits on how long goods should last because different types of products have different life spans.
In short, you cannot be fobbed off with the 'it's out warranty' line.
If in doubt as to whose responsibilty it is to pay for the return of goods, seek advice from your local Citizens Advice Bureau who will happily supply you with this information, and, should things get sticky, the may even enter into negotiations on your behalf.0
