I'm really sorry for being dense here, but why would anyone want to pay more for something than just picking up the phone. As soon as you tell them that you've spoken to customer services and they're able to track the call by your own phone number, there is no hard sell.

Honest - you just get the laptop.

Would someone either confirm I'm right or wrong on this?

From your quote: I tried this and it didn't work. And I mentioned customer
    services twice! Very fed up!

Thanks for letting me know. The inside line is that if you mention to the salesman that there is a "Cradle to Grave" in operation and customer services have told you to tell the salesman this, they will sell you the laptop.

I'm told that this "cradle to grave" means they are tracking the call all the way through....it's worth a go, particularly if you call 01344 number

Let us know how you get on....
  • More memory questions :)

With the memory upgrade is it better to get a 256 to match the 256 already there as I heard that it works better with 2 similar memory modules? or should I just fork out for a 1gb module and stick that in?

+that memory mentioned above from castech is anyone sure that would fit? is that the best price so far or is it better to be safer and go for crucial (theirs seems to be about £20 more)

Has anyone upgraded their memory yet? (+ if anyone has got any really good prices for 256, 512 or 1gb for others who may not want to spend so much more on this could they please post them here?)

thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
Treat everyday as your last one on earth, and one day you will be right!

My 256 arrived this morning from crucial and it has made the laptop run much faster and smoother. Its upto you really if you need more but for me an extra 256 was adequate.
  • Just to tell you guys after all of my problems yesterday i decieded to give them another chance and call and ordered mine this morning with the screen and battery upgrade obviously! spoke to a lovely indian lady who didnt try the hard sell at all (mainly as i made her think that she had sold me up on the screen and battery!) they seem to be more relaxed today - i think maybe they have had a talking to after yesterdays events. Thanks everyone for your help and advice.

How do I track the delivery of my lappy? Dell tracking says dispatched, but no further info. I understand they are being delivered by UPS - how do I track the progress?
  • Well, i was "delighted" to have the phone put down on me twice this morning. I actually laughed the first time they did it - i didnt actually think it would happen!!

Managed to get thru to a decent enough Indian man who apologised for and distress that the others caused me...

it will 'fit' but I dont recommend you buy it from the person who is in hong kong (also its over the import limit so you have a chance of getting a vat bill...)

Stick to crucial or a proper supplier....

It's not a 'couple of quid' though, it's more like half the price of crucial!
