soolin wrote:How did it arrive? I ask because I have just had a card put through the door for a special delivery item that needs to be collected from the depot later today. I can't believe i missed the van, I've been in all morning and only went out briefly to add potato peelings to the compost heap!
I thought the laptops were coming by courier, but since i am not expecting anything else by SD I just wondered if this might be it?

Skipton: Items are delivered by DHL, you can track the delivery online with your customer\order number.
Venna: external keyboard\mouse can be used if they have USB connections (No PS2). There is a VGA out so External monitor can also be used.
Hope this helps

I can't track mine as I have no email confirmation, in fact I have no written confirmation at all just verbal agreement from three different people that my order is being processed. I also have a hold on my credit card for £300.18

For the things I will be using it for is it worth getting a Centrino machine? Will I notice any difference?
Centrino is just a chipset description (all in one board from intel).
This machine specs are very similar to centrino, only notable difference being it uses a dell "addin" wireless card rather than a centrino chipset built in wireless card.Filiss0 -

Perhaps what I should have asked is whether for what I need (internet, photos, videos, WP etc) I should be getting a Pentium machine with Centrino chipset rather than a Celeron and whether I would actually notice any difference0 -
If buying extra memory for it from crucial, there's a discount code on the discount vouchers board for 4% off.Next year we'll be millionaires!0

although using quidco to get 7% is a much better prospect. It seems the code and quidco cashback are mutually exclusive too0 -
Just thought I'd give you all a quick update: My £299 laptop has just arrived via UPS... ABSOLUTE BARGAIN. Laptop is solid and ideal for surfing the net using wireless.
A bit of advice would be to get rid of all the nasty dell software that comes pre loaded and the laptop flies.
Anyone who managed to secure one of these things will not be dissappointed. :j0 -
I've just missed mine. Card thru the door. Will have to hope I catch the delivery tomorrow.
Ordered late Saturday afternoon as well.0
