Just received email from plusnet that my value is 18 month contract .....

Raised ticket as was told that if you were an existing user only 12 month contract

    response :
You are absolutely correct, as an existing user this should be set to a 12 month contract.
We shall amend this for you.

    [internal]
Please manually change EU's contract to 12 months.

    Kind regards,

Keep an eye out if you switch to value package

    Cheers Steve

Also got mine changed from 18 months to 12 months by 'raising a ticket' - and I added this message:

"The option of a 12 month rather than 18 month contract for existing customers switching to your new products should be made clear to all existing customers at the time they switch and this option should also be set out clearly in the Terms & Conditions on your 'Legal Information' page."

I've now had the following reply:

"Thank you for your feedback, we do take this very seriously and I appreciate this is not entirely clear at present. I will pass your comments to the relevant team to look at and consider when developing the pages on the website which we are constantly reviewing."

As i read above, plusnet is a sister company of madasafish, now i am currently with madasafish, so can i change? Although i am market 2 - it's still better for me to pay £1.99 for 10GB than £9.78 for 5GB

In the same boat also at Madasafish, I was told if I want to migrate just give the customer services a call. Doubt if we would be classed as current users at Plusnet though.

Anybody interested in this deal may want to make a decision quickly - as Quidco are currently giving £35 cashback. (The normal cashback is £28, and when they upped it last month to £56, that only lasted a short while before returning to £28)
Signed up to plusnet Value earlier this week via Quidco which was still showing £35 cashback. However it has only tracked at £25  .

Edit: Should have done this before posting. Have just logged in to Quidco and the tracking has changed to £35. So panic over.

Although the maaf/plusnet reps seem to have stopped coming here, they do contribute to the forum at thinkbroadband.

There the same question has been posed (can maaf customers swap to the new plusnet deals and be treated as existing customers and only be tied to a 12 month contract) and the rep came back with a favourable response:

Doen't all this seem poor business ethics by plusnet?

The majority of their customers won't have the benefit of coming here and reading about this ticket system.

If they want to change tariff, they are asked to accept the ts + cs before being allowed to change. That means they give up their favourable situation (with no contract in place), and enter into a new 18 month contract, which it seems plusnet would hold them to unless they knew to send a ticket.

Also note plusnet have removed their geographic phone numbers for calling support, cs etc, from their site, and have stopped their 90 day risk free guarantee as well.

You are only half correct. They have removed them from the "contact us" page but they are still available at the bottom of this page, see link.

However how long they will remain there is anyones guess.

well spotted - though that is probably their oversight, and will be sorted if they have lurkers looking in here!

Their website is full of important anomalies that some might find a worry about their abilities to run a brewery tasting session.

eg This is from their cancellation policy (they say there are two ways, but...just how can you cancel - verbally or not verbally?)
we can only accept cancellation requests in writing, never verbally.
A cancellation request can be made in one of two ways:
Online: The quickest and easiest way to request a cancellation is by calling our Cancellations Team on 0845 140 6002.
Any notice period that applies to the cancellation request will start as soon as a call is made to our Cancellations Team.

If you're in the right exchange area, then £5.99 is a bargain IMO. Sure you might not get a fixed IP or website but that's not the market they're after.
