    Hi there,
I have just looked at the Plusnet value site and they are £5.99, as advertised, but when you go to the next screen it becomes, £11.99 after 3 months. I thought from the post on the newsletter it stayed at £5.99 for 18 months?

Depends on your exchange if it is a Market 3 you stay on £5.99 if it is Market 1 or 2 it rises to £11.99 after the three month introductory discount.

Go to http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php and put in your phone number to find your exchange, in the bottom right you will see this:-

    'Ofcom Classification What's this?'

Which tells you which Market your exchange is.

I'm on Option 1 giving just 2GB a month & was going to increase it to Option 2 on next billing date as I'm going over every month - now that option has gone! NOT being tied in for 18months!!!

If you are not going over massively why not just prepay for extra GB per month.
  • We do prepay for over usage BUT it seems every month our usage goes up - we'd just got to the stage when it seemed it would be more economical to go up to Option 2 & not worry about exceeding our limit.

I was shocked when I realised we'd missed out as it appears the only options now are to sign up for 18months. Just going to continue now paying for the extra GB. IF they had offered the 10GB to old customers WITHOUT the 18month tie in then we might have taken this.

I have been a Plusnet customer for six months now, on Broadband My Way Option 1 (up to 8Mb) and Homephone Anytime+. Early on my line seemed to be tied to 2Gb, but now it runs well at about 4.5 Mb, (consistent with most providers estimates for my line at max 5Mb). Plusnet Customer Service on the phone and web-site has been very good, and information about their service and any problems is easily available on their web-site. You get an account page where you can view your usage, (and itemised call history for the phone service) . I asked an on-line question about Plusnet Value today, which was answered within two hours.

I have no qualms about being tied into plusnet for 18 months, so have switched from Broadband 'My way Option 1' (2Gb download limit, £9.75) to Plusnet value (10Gb download limit, £5.99). I am in a 'Market 3' area, so now have internet and Homephone with 24/7 inclusive landline calls for a tad over £20 a month inc line rental. Cool. :T

    Thank you Cajef,
I did a check and my exchange is Market 1, so my rate would go up after 3 months! Apparently my exchange is given over totally to BT wholesale, how unfair is that! It means I can't take advantage of any low cost offers and I am reliant on what BT offer me, with no "plea bargaining"! Oh well, maybe I will have to stick with Pipex, not a happy thought!
  • I was so excited today and prepared for an 18 month contract. As an existing customer im happy with the service but being on the 2GB contract I also run out half way through the month. A couple of times I have upgraded and purchased extra GBs of usage but dispite 2GB lasting about 3 weeks, for some reason they email me to say I have used the extra GBs in about a day! Anyway, Im in the wrong zone so they want £11.99 off me after 3 months so I dont think its the best deal. I''ll stick with my 2GB until I go back to work in April and decide then. Plus im not sure if existing customers woulkd get the free wireless router which I really do need so its just put me off the whole idea.

  • Anyone one know what happens after the 18 month period if you are a Market 3 exchange and qualify for the £5.99 for the whole 18 months. Will the price go up after 18 months or remain at £5.99?
