Ah, we grew up with very little by way of treats... And I think that's why I'm compulsive now... There's a bit more to it than cakes and sweets... eg we never had fruit in and if we did, we weren't allowed to eat it... Same with milk, we weren't allowed to drink milk... I always make sure these are available to Aimee freely now... And we might not have chocolate bars etc in the house but there's usually something for her to have as a pudding... Current fave is a scoop of vanilla icecream in a cone with some sprinkles on... She's not actually getting a lot of icecream... But she doesn't know that ;)

Why weren't you allowed to eat the fruit?
The only 'problem' I have with food is that I have an ingrained fear of being fat :o at one point I said I would rather die than be a size 12  good job I've come a long way coz I've been a size 12 since having Chris!!:rotfl:
It comes from my mum, she spent all my life telling me n sis not to get fat like her
    I've always been a pretty good eater, We used to get one bar of milka each every week;
mum would eat hers in one sitting on the friday night we'd bought it,
Sis would eat hers in 2 or 3 sittings so it was gone by monday
Dad would have bits n bobs here n there and often have some left at the end of the week
and I would spilt it into 7pieces and have one bit each day ;)
We had lots of fruit n veg coz we didn't have much money so meals were full of veg to make up for lack of meat
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

I'm hoping to look after my baby AND loose the mummy tummy - friend of mine is a former pro bodybuilder so hoping he can help me put together a realistic exercise plan :) If I'm lucky I'll actually have a better body after giving birth than before :D

  • emlou - what is it with people and being judgmental about mums to be? seems like once you're PG you're public property and ppl can comment about what you should and shouldn't be doing. PPl forget that women have been doing this for centuries and the human race hasn't died out for the odd 'bab (or whatever the equivalent was way back when!)

That's not to say we're not careful but just within the bounds of reason.

I am keeping busy today so won't be around much.

Lots of hugs and snugs, MFD. One more sleep or maybe not even that! ;). Have you any plans tonight? Both times DH and I went out for our 'last supper' :D. Its all worth it in the end (sorry trot out the old cliche) but its true :o.

I'm sure its just me but I really don't understand those of you that don't have choc in the house sometimes
I have a plastic shoebox (the type that obsessively neat people actually put their shoes in, in a neat stack in the wardrobe - whats that about?:p) full of choccy plus an over flow jar and a secret stash that OH doesn't know about ;) and at the mo we have a huge tin of roses and quality street and the freezer always has at least 4 varieties of lollies/ice cream

Am I some kind of piggy wig?:o:rotfl:

I used to be a chocaholic, but bubs no likey. Same with coffee. Last night we watched that medieval food thing and they were eating white chocolate candles, I had to go upstiars as it was making me gag! I am so not liking this child at times! My only two vices were chocolate and coffee, I don't drink, smoke, do drugs...

No idea... Nor why we couldn't drink the milk either... Think it was something to do with my mother and her wierd control issues... She infuriates me with Aimee though... She fills the house with chocolate cakes and crisps when she has Aimee over night and basically lets her have whatever she likes... Its all good and well having a cake after a meal or some sweets as a snack... but it's more like a cake for every meal and sweets in between...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Snap (about the fruit) When we did have it,It was purely to look pretty in the fruit bowl! (why couldn't my mum just get plastic fruit? LOL) I always have fruit in for my kids, and i'm glad they actually see it as a treat they love the little snack boxes of raisins and love apples and bananas, but won't really touch any 'funny looking' fruit which i'm hoping to work on when i get a smoothie maker soon! I don't really tend to get crisps or sweet stuff that much because i'm a crisp-a-holic who can manage to scoff a full tube of pringles in less than 2 hours and my fella is a choco-holic they don't last 2 mins in this house lol.

I keep craving mini-cheddars and just don't fancy anything else at all! Think i'd better get baking some homemade cheesy biscuits lol.
If google doesn't know it, how should i?

One thing I worry about is passing on my bad habits to my kids! Unfortunately OH can't really balance me out either - he is a bit of a weird food guy too. Hence our dinner being at 10pm most nights!

when i first told work i was pg they all used to sit round the staff room passing judgement on what i was eating! i felt terrible so i used to live on toast, crisps and the odd bit of chocolate, it was all i could stomach but someone every day had to say that i should have been eating fruit and veg, it didnt matter how many times i explained if i put something of that texture in my mouth they would be wearing it a few seconds later i was still wrong and not supplying my baby with proper nutrition!! bearing in mind i was not exactly skinny and my midwife and doctor both said it really didnt matter as at least i was eating enough to keep my body working!
