  • No idea... Nor why we couldn't drink the milk either... Think it was something to do with my mother and her wierd control issues... She infuriates me with Aimee though... She fills the house with chocolate cakes and crisps when she has Aimee over night and basically lets her have whatever she likes... Its all good and well having a cake after a meal or some sweets as a snack... but it's more like a cake for every meal and sweets in between...

Your mum sounds just like mine! If my eldest stays at mums overnight she comes back hypo after all the treats! I don't mind occasionally but she allows her to just eat half a meal and then gets rewarded with chocolate for 'trying her best' Pfft! Is there any wonder i'm fat?LOL
If google doesn't know it, how should i?

I used to be a chocaholic, but bubs no likey. Same with coffee. Last night we watched that medieval food thing and they were eating white chocolate candles, I had to go upstiars as it was making me gag! I am so not liking this child at times! My only two vices were chocolate and coffee, I don't drink, smoke, do drugs...
Hello! I was just about to post the below for you :D

  • I think I'd find it difficult to accept a grandparent feeding the cub food I didn't want him or her to have... like you say, the odd treat is fine, but sugar OD is a bit different. Oh god am going to turn into mumzilla!

I was brought up quite hippyishly (for the late 70s/early 80s) so had humous, tabbouleh, beans, home made wholemeal bread etc (no sweets, desserts, plenty of salad, not much meat....) from a young age. Means I really like this kind of food, but also have secret urges for trash because I never had biscuits and cakes and pop (even at birthday parties - it was so embarrassing at the time but no doubt I will tiotally inflict the same on Cub!) I can usually control them as I know I don't really want them most of the time... except now when I really really DO want them! LOL. Though am worried about the fat comments at next MW appt.

when i first told work i was pg they all used to sit round the staff room passing judgement on what i was eating! i felt terrible so i used to live on toast, crisps and the odd bit of chocolate, it was all i could stomach but someone every day had to say that i should have been eating fruit and veg, it didnt matter how many times i explained if i put something of that texture in my mouth they would be wearing it a few seconds later i was still wrong and not supplying my baby with proper nutrition!! bearing in mind i was not exactly skinny and my midwife and doctor both said it really didnt matter as at least i was eating enough to keep my body working!
I had that when I was preg last time, the worst offenders? the blooming fat ones who lived of crap! (one of which offered the other preg girl from the office coke (as in the drug!) on a night out and knew she was preg at the time!!)

FG, I know exactly what you mean, I really try hard not to pass my compulsiveness onto Aimee... That's why I try to encourage her to eat fresh fruit or raw veg as snacks... And hide the compulsive cake and chocolate snacking for when she's at school lol... I don't deprive her, but I tell her how pleased I am with her when she puts half of something away for later because she's had enough... I think stopping when she's full is one of the best life skills I can give her... I can't do it! (Breastfeeding helps here, it's self regulating)

I totally totally agree - the one time I practised this, I lost quite a bit, felt great, looked better... but it's not hard-wired so I tend to slip. I really hope I can help the cub pick this up

Good luck emlou, hope the midwife has a good old rummage and starts you off ;)

On that happy note I'm going for a shower... Got aqua natal this afternoon and I don't want to spend it with stinging legs from a last minute dry shave like last week!
