Hi all,
I've just applied for a job internally within the Trust. The post is for 20 hours so I phoned the department to see what times the hours were. Now, I'm 21 weeks and planning to go an Maternity leave at the end of May. I filled in the application form online and submitted it, but I didn't tell them I was pregnant. Would it make any difference? The closing date is next week, so interviews wouldn't be until March maybe April. If I get an interview they#ll obviously see that I'm pregnant. I know that it shouldn't make any difference but I'm still worrying.Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0 -
Jillie - where are you being seen for AN appt? Is that at hospital?
yep!!
it came through before i even saw midwife!
made an appointment at gp for midwife fri 30jan. then 07 feb letter came from hospital maternity unit with my appointment booked. thought midwife would book it when i saw her..
go to AN at hospital on 17Mar'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Thank god - I was sure I had read somewhere that they do an examination to feel the uterus. My frazzled brain may have dreamed it up though.
I think this just means that they poke your tummy to see whether its risen out of the pelvis yet. Certainly that's always happened to me on my first antenatal appointment. You wouldn't expect it to have risen up by 9 weeks (which is what I think you are) but if it has, then it would be an indication that your dates might be slightly out. It's all very decorous though, and you do get to keep your clothes on!0 -

Can you believe that all the time people were telling me I was massive I was measuring as fine...now I am just 'heavily pregnant' he seems to have decided to grow!! I'm sure he was sticking his bum out though (he does sometimes) and he was definitely all on one side of my bump (another favourite trick of his) so if I was measured again now whilst he is asleep it could well be different!
hmmm...wonder if that is why i haven't had any braxton hicks becuase even though bubs is head down, he isn't engaged yet (well wasn't as of Monday)
as for moving around, family thought i was having a girl, now they have changed it to a boy becuase I am now more 'out front'. i think bubs moves sooooo much i am never going to be sure.
as you say, he will probably move around again and then your measurements will be different.
i was worried about the growth scan, but the thing is you get to see bubs again, albeit not all at once on the screen at times becuase they are of course bigger now.0 -

Lots of people don't get BH - every one is different - babies still make it out through the exit. No BH = less of a waddleyou lucky thing!!
I asked the MW what happens if he is big...she said nothing really, unless they think that I will struggle to deliver or that Bubba doesn't have enough fluid in there. I guess at that point we will discuss the options. I will be 39 weeks on monday so a max of 17 days to go from there til he would be evicted anyway...
The student MW said 'nature tends to give us babies that fit though' - I only thought afterwards that she was commenting on the size of my foof  :rotfl: I say 'student' she is about my age and has 2 kids of her own (she's fab actually)
Can't actually say I am really looking forward to seeing the scan - thinking about where he has got his headplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

Glamazon - (hugs) day off sounds just about what you need!
Hypno - (hugs) too my brother and sil (who live in oz) lost a little boy 10 years ago @ 21 wks... they have been through ivf/adoption process after giving up all hope. Admittedly we have only seen each other 4 times over that period and I have brought the kids with me (under strict instructions from my dad) but I could always see the tears in his eyes when he saw the little ones - except for the last time they were here in May 08. I find e-mails/phone conversations really hard because I have no other life apart from the kids so end up talking about the house/weather/inlaws and try to avoid any talk of the kids other than to say that they are well. Although they are now expecting an arrival in April :j
Honeypop -Re weight gain with dd1 I could keep food down for 2mins to 5 hours and was really worried that I wasn't putting enough weight on (no scales - threw them out when DH started obsessing about his weight) MW assured me that in the small amount of time I kept food down for that bubs was taking everything she needed and leaving me to go without! Check with your mw/gp though!
Sampainter & caz - labour vibes for you both!
DH has an appt in Newcastle today - which turned out to be quite lucky.. dad has phoned up and he is having a vertigo episode. I feel utterly useless but can't get there before DH would so there is no point me travelling down. Plus if the kids or DH are tired then they can stay tonight. I need to be here for scan tomorrow - best laid plans and all that jazz... I cannot for the life of me think of anyone I can ask to have the kids for an hour - well the only person that I can think got the keys to their new house this week so I ma guessing they are busy - still thinking though. Just had a thought about how to get a doctor out to dad though0 -

i am sure my waddle will come, dont worry. i worry know that i am waddling.
as for how big baby is and what the midwife said about 'babies that fit' the midwife at my parentcraft class pointed out that most babies heads are the same size to deliver (bearing in mind their skull bones are still soft to allow them through the birth canal).
'student midwife'.... i haven't seen a student midwife who doesn't have children and who isn't older than me (and thinking about it have seen 4 student midwives i think - all lovely too)0
