    Good morning all

I was hoping some of you lovely ladies would share some experiences with me. I have been worrying this whole preganancy about what normally happen when you go into the labour in terms of what the normal process is when you get to the hospital.

Although this is my 4th :rotfl:

1st was a CS, 2nd I was started, and the 3rd, I can only hope and pray was not the normal procedure.

With my last pregnancy I went into labour at 1.00 am, went to the hospital and they put me in a room literally the size of a broom cupboard, they said the hospital was full to bursting point and repeatedly told me to go home nothing was happening.

I was having full on contractions and refused to go home. At about 6.00am I was examined again ( in the broom cupboard ) still only 2cm and advised to go home. Baby was born at 6.30am  with me being raced to a delivery room on a trolley. No pain relief because I was told all along it was too soon, then told it was too late.

I would really like to know what is the normal procedure, when you get to the hospital?

  • Congratulations Samp!!

Mrs Moc, I think every hospital has it's own procedure but at ours, I went in early and was only 1cm, they put me on a ward for 12hrs then when I was 5cm moved me to a delivery suite... I might of stayed on the ward longer if the delivery suite was full though... Have you considered asking for a home birth to avoid the problems? (Although don't know if they'd let you with a vbac)
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

  • Congratulations sam!!
  • Congratulations SamP - Hannah Morgan is a beautiful name and she was a lovely weight - can't wait to hear your birth story and best of all see some piccies :T

tink - sami posted a good list but I wouldn't recommend going back through her posts to find it...you would be there for a long time ;):D

AF - about time - on both counts! Did you ever answer me about earphones/speakers?

MrsT - you prob need to speak to your MW about your hips (can't remember if you have seen a physio?) but they will def not recommend that doing nothing all day is good for you or the baby!!! You have a long way to go yet, sitting at home shouldn't be the best answer for you, you need treatment.

    Morning All

AF - itunes, you need to register with itunes and provide a card (for buying tunes) then when you plug the device it in, it sort of, automatically starts to sync...well that's what my iphone did anyway! You can then change the settings(in itunes) to choose what info you want it to sync each time and whether you want to sync it manually or automatically...Best thing to do is google, google, google!!that's how I managed to get it set up:)

mm - I am not going to breastfeed, I have even bought a couple of the ready made milk cartons and some single use steri bottles...for when baby is first born. In hospital they usually provide the bottles and I said to dh, I don't want either of us, to be faffing around with sterilising/making feeds straight after the birth:)
