I have a few probs with this (not ur fault
)
i have heard the weight gain thing often as the charts in the child heath record are actually based on bottle fed babies, BFed babies gain slower (and in a healthier way) and frankly as long as they gain weight evenly there is generally no problem, my son was/is a slow grower bt luckily my HVs are really good and are more accepting of the fact that all kids are differentor your bubs wasn't getting enough hind milk in wich case you should have been supported it gettin it right.
He was probably sickly when you swapped to bottles because babies digestive systems aren't made to accept formula - the same thing happened when I switched to formula
Your milk is almost certainly good enough so please do try again and try to find some support
Breast milk is much more concentrated IYSWIM so you need much less of it compared to formula hence not getting as much when you pumped
HTH and you will reconsider xx
The thing is that i was made to feel like a bad mum for wanting to continue breastfeeding both with DD in hosp they had me on another ward so gave me little choice but to agree to having to combine feeding! And with DS My HV was persistent that i changed DS over to formula ASAP and was not supportive at all! I absolutely hate having to have the babies weighed even at the baby clinic i was told i should combine feeding so that they gain weight faster! ARRRRGGGHIf google doesn't know it, how should i?0 -
In that case Nik it was oyur health care proffesionals that let you down not your milk. You should definitely try again and get yourself some good support. With support, anyone can do it!

We got married when DD was 4 as we thought we would not be having any more kids, but this little ''accident'' just happened and we are over the moon. I will be very happy to stop at 2 though, but hubby has now started to say things like, if we have another we will need a bigger house !!!!!:rotfl:
LOL my house is only 2 bedroomed, and thats another thing soon, we're also moving! My DP wants an army of kids! I only wanted 2 at first, but now i'm not sure, I'm loving the large family thing! Maybe you may see me in 5 years on one of those channel 4 documentaries...If google doesn't know it, how should i?0 -

I should have been a 1981er but I decided to be 3 weeks late !!!
I was always keen on being a young mum, but not quite as young as 20 when I had DD. Me and OH bought a house in November and I got pregnant in the January !!!
Oh well, these things happen for a reason !!:D
What age are you sami???
I was a teenage mum for 2 months as i was still 19 when i had dd. I'd already left home and had a place of my own though (left home at 16!)If google doesn't know it, how should i?0 -

MM - I'm 23
I turn 24 a bit less than 3 weeks after bubs is due
Nik - you don't have to go to clinicare you the one I'm thinking of that lives here in sunny wigan? wigan is in the process of getting a certificate thingy that is to do with being more supportive and pro BFing I have already seen a big difference in how they talk about it compared to when I was pregnant last time. info on the certificate thingy http://www.babyfriendly.org.uk/page.asp?page=48
If you are in wigan I can give you the number of a local BFing counselor too, I met her at a parentcraft class and found her to be a very nice lady who I won't find flashing my boobs to if necessary when the time comes :rotfl:0 -
I'm off to bed too. A few niggly pains still. I think if I'm still having a few tomorrow, I'll give them a call and see what they want me to do. Just hurts when I move about, roll over or stand up. Suppose I can always ask if they'll be able to find a female to do the internal tomorrow can't I? That might be an idea. Shall see what a sleep does. Baby is moving plenty, thought I'd check movements, and have had 15+ since 6:30pm so he is making up for a lazy morning.
Thanks for all your support today ladiesStay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
Ooh - I didn't get weighed for my epidural - although that was 11 years ago... think I'd have smacked the dr / anaesthetist one if they'd tried to get me off the bed and onto scales at that point!!
You took the words right out of my mouth! :rotfl:
They didn't 16m ago when I had Poppy (but it did take 3 attempts!).
PS: I'm only on page 62!
