Brest milk does help with allergies
Chris has inherited (that we know of so far ) Hayfever, eczema and mystery ingredient in some skin stuff. Luckily he didn't get my oat allergy (those little boogers are in sooo much!!) but I'm sure we'll come across lots more as time goes by, I'm still acquiring new ones! (I was Bfed don't know how long for prob around 6mths) its not a guarantee just helps

MM - bottle feeding is fine.
BF is supposed to help with bonding tho deff not the be all and end all, if you still don't want to when the time comes then that is absolutely finelots of skin to skin will help with bonding.
I've gone a bit earth mother with this one LOL I'm planning on all 4 of us having nudey time togetherI want Chris to be involved as much as possible and he loves being nudey so it should be fun all cuddled up together

I never breastfed my eldest and regretted it. When i had DD2 (now 2) i breastfed her for 6 weeks or so, only stopped because she ended up with a lump on her lower spine and being admitted to hospital because of it. I was also told that she losing weight, which i found hard to take in because she was always feeding! The day we took her to the hosp, unfortunatly i wasn't feeling too good either with bad cramps and sickness...i ended up also being admitted and put on another ward and they wouldn't let me be with my baby until they checked what my problem/illness was! Obviously couldn't feed her from the other side of the hospital and as the nurses were giving her formula,i wanted to atleast try combining which is what they suggested to me in hosp, but when i tried to feed her again, she rejected, Getting her fill from the formula. I felt like a failure
(Turns out after many tests and even having taking DD to Alder Hey for MR scans, her lump was just a cyst nothing more serious, as there were worries that it could have been spina bifida) My 'infection' was apparently 'picked up' during birth...Thanks hospital!
With DS who was born 15 months ago, he was BF for a few weeks but when he was weighed at 2 weeks old, again i was told he had not gained as much as he should have done, at which point i gave up and put him on the bottles, When we changed to bottles he became a very sicky baby, and still had problems with weight gain for while but then a week or so later everything got better and now he's almost as big as his older sis!!
This time its straight to bottles it seems my milk is not good enough!
I do have some advise for anyone who has not BF before who is planning to buy a breast pump...Just don't! Not until the feeding is well established, and (ok, just my personal opinion,) but i found the manual pump verrrry slow and it hurts your wrist! My pump was a total waste of time tbh, I expressed just twice and there was barely enough there for a full feed despite being sat there for ages pumping away! 30 mins for less than 20ml!!!
One thing i found invaluable though, as i've quite large b00bs is a nursing pillow so i could position the baby comfortably without the worry of suffocation and far more comfortable.
Sorry, Rant over!If google doesn't know it, how should i?0 -

i have heard the weight gain thing often as the charts in the child heath record are actually based on bottle fed babies, BFed babies gain slower (and in a healthier way) and frankly as long as they gain weight evenly there is generally no problem, my son was/is a slow grower bt luckily my HVs are really good and are more accepting of the fact that all kids are differentor your bubs wasn't getting enough hind milk in wich case you should have been supported it gettin it right.
He was probably sickly when you swapped to bottles because babies digestive systems aren't made to accept formula - the same thing happened when I switched to formula
Your milk is almost certainly good enough so please do try again and try to find some support
Breast milk is much more concentrated IYSWIM so you need much less of it compared to formula hence not getting as much when you pumped
HTH and you will reconsider xx0 -

We got married when DD was 4 as we thought we would not be having any more kids, but this little ''accident'' just happened and we are over the moon. I will be very happy to stop at 2 though, but hubby has now started to say things like, if we have another we will need a bigger house !!!!!:rotfl:The two best things I have done with my life
