About to start doing Business, have just spent 2 years at normal University but ended up having a bit to much fun so now im home, going to be working/learning with what im sure will be plenty of disruptions but alot less as I dont have to put up with the constant interefence of people knocking your door every 5 minutes for a spliff or to get drunk. Look forward to actually learning now!0

Revising is going slowly, mainly because it's always been something I'm not great at - I really could do with some lessons in it!
Good luck to all those with exams! No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
I've just finished K221 - Perspectives of complementary/alternative medicine and am now starting L196 - Welsh (I'm so excited about this course as I've always wanted to learn Welsh)

I have just finished DD101 Intro to Social Sciences (and it was so stressful that we all had a virtual p*** up on facebook yesterday when it officially ended!) and am onto DSE212 Exploring Psychology. And have already pre-booked my next course for October 2011! Getting rather organised. Finally I'm onto courses I'm choosing rather than DD101 which is compulsory to my degree.
Maybe you should get a suitcase for tutorials! Never been to a tutorial myself, they time them so that there is no way I can get back via public transport! x
ive signed up for dd101 starting jan and am intending to do a level 1 psychology course afterwards, whats the social sciences one like?

Good luck with the law, ur be find, I did W100 it was really interesting. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Honestly, I would suggest that unless it is compulsory to the degree you may want to do (like it is for me) that it isn't a good choice. I have nothing against the course material, the books are fantastic, very varied topics that cover a little of everything. And I had a great tutor. But the assignments are vague to say the least, even the tutors agreed with our complaints that they were too vague making it difficult to do even if you read every word and did every activity.
To get a true look at what it is like I'd say go onto facebook and have a look at the two groups for dd101 starting January 2010. Most people feel the same way as me on it but you'll get a better view from everyone - they're all very nice (even if we have been spying on the October 2010 group and giggling a bit at a few things!).
If the course team have taken on board our issues with the course then it could be better, but I doubt it I'm afraid. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but honestly I wish someone had warned me so I could have been prepared.mummyroysof3 wrote: »ive signed up for dd101 starting jan and am intending to do a level 1 psychology course afterwards, whats the social sciences one like?

Realistically, how feasible is it to work full-time and study? Well, it would be 30 hours max working per week.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Hi sh1305, if you're dedicated and focused - then studying and working will work out fine. It's really down to you how much you want to succeed and also your family commitment. Work out a timetable to see how feasible it would be for you.
In the news it saying that Universtiy fee are going to skyrocket - Is anyone worried at all about how this might affect OU course fees?0 -

As a rough estimate based on Ou figures,if your doing a 30 point course, they say apr 8 hrs per week, for 60 points its 16 hours, some weeks your go great guns and fly through and be able to get ahead, other weeks you may use the 16 hrs and be stuck, each person works differently, but that may give u a base idea.
The studying doesn't have to be done in 1 x 8hr slot, usually a weeks work is broken up into sections, for instance I'm now doing E112 Leval 1 sports course 60 points, the book estimates 12 to 14 hrs a week, the week I'm on now one part of that is allocated to an hr - for a piece of reading and a comment, - think of it that way may help with your time plan. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
