Once you've registered a course you can now apply online for financial support if you've been given your student number.
https://css2.open.ac.uk/online-financial-support/gatekeeper/gatekeeper.aspxI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -

I don't know about Scotland sorry, they tend to work differently on lots of things.
england + Wales, if your on certain benefits you get your courses paid, if ur household income upto £30,000 you still may be entitled to a grant, they allow so much for the person, whether they have dependents etc, and then work out whether you get any discounts off the courses,xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

You can also apply for an ILA account (Individual learning account) which gives you £200 a year towards courses, it was if you earned under £18K but it's gone up and I can't remember what to.
On the OU website there is a page on there where it tells you if you're entitled to a grant or not.Payment a day challenge: £236.69
Jan Shopping Challenge: £202.09/£250
Frugal Living Challenge: £534.64/150000 -

I had a look. I have had my course fees paid because I get a qualifying benefit. Other than that its telling me to apply for DSA via SAAS (waiting on assesment centre) or apply to discresionary funds. Like everyone I am happy that my fees have been paid, I wouldn't of been able to start this course otherwise but I am struggling with the costs of ink postage and other incidentals. A small cash sum would of been nice right about now especially as tutorials have started as well.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000
