Oh...what has confused me is that I hadn't applied and hadn't been informed either!? It is for £2600
-
I think you don't have to - it has been generated by your application for financial support due to being in receipt of Income Support. If you had applied for a computer grant, that also would have generated the additional grant.0

I'm the same as you, get funding due to being on Income Support, its your Study Grant, it shows as Student Loan, but it is non-repayable, and also it does not affect your income support as its not an actual student grant.
If you have applied for a computer grant, then you usually purchase ur computer 1st, and they refund you, you only get think its still at £250.00. As in the 1st yr of study your are expected to put the student grant towards the computer. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I have just rang the OU finance department and apparently the PC grant is for £140 - as I use my son's laptop whilst he's at school would it be reasonable of me to apply for one of my own?

Hello all,
I'm currently waiting impatiently for my L140 Spanish and L130 German results, and just started U211 Exploring the English Language this October. I should then be starting my L240 in February but i'm going to have to really step up my game to manage 120 credits at once!
Hope you're all studying hardMake £5 a day in July - £105.33/£155
Total debt July '09: £7,500
Proud to be dealing with my debts but not proud that they are still the same a year on.0 -

Re the computer grant I got a letter sent to me saying if I wanted a computer I had to fill in a little disclosure ( about not having access to a computer), and then a company would deliver a computer to my house.
I don't know if it's just Scotland who do this, didn't sign for it anyway as just got given a computer and didn't want to deprive someone who really needed it as they are in limited supply.Payment a day challenge: £236.69
Jan Shopping Challenge: £202.09/£250
Frugal Living Challenge: £534.64/150000 -
In England, when I started OU, 3 yrs ago, I hadn't got a computer, but I had to buy it first then claim the difference back, (use £250 student grant as it was then), and allowance of £250 computer xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

thought i would say hi:beer:
I am re-taking A210, as although i completed all the tma's last time a couple of years back, i couldnt sit the exam due to ill health and a bereavement.
My courses:
Oct 07 - A210 (didnt sit exam)
Feb 08 - AA317 - Words and Music
Oct O8 - A300 - Twentieth Century Literature (didnt finish, ill health)
Oct09 - A210 - trying not to think about the exam!
am then planning to do A100, EA300 (Childrens Lit) and possibly A215 - creative writing. (gosh that looks like a lot!)
Would definitely recommend trying for a DSA - i have one, and the software and digitial voice recorder were things that although i didnt actually think of them, have made studying so much easier!
As an aside - i see that at least one of you have received your course grant of £260. Does that mean they are all on the way, as i am getting desparate to purchase some printer ink and books!0
