i've literally just finished t175 (something about networks - level 1) and did M150 (something about data - level 1) last year. am now doing m255 (object oriented programming with java - level 2) this year. i've got a credit transfer request in for my previous degree (in politics) so, if i'm lucky, i'll get 180-240 points off. the only prob is that because i want a BSc (open but mainly in computery things), i still need to do the level 2 courses to learn the programming to be able to do the level 3 courses.

i see you're doing businessy things. is that right? what qual are you aiming for?

Ur brainy, my original plan was BA Hon Business with Law, but after 1 yr of law, its changed slightly BA Hon Business, like the finance side, but don't want to go down the accounts route. Get somewhere eventually.

Think the max they can credit is 180 points, but not sure how far the scale they go up to. x

I don't envy anyone doing a law degree. i'm a solicitor but did it through the postgrad qualification route. the law students at my uni worked like dogs - learning a load of things that were of questionable real world use. if you still fancy law once you've done it, look for a CPE/Graduate Diploma in Law course. horribly expensive though. :(

think on the credit thing, on an open honours degree (as opposed to a named one) the limit is 240. pretty sure it is lower on named degrees. hope so anyway!! :)

Good luck with the exam, 89% overall is a brilliant score, well done, it shows how hard you worked.

My overall has come out at 74%, I had to doa subistutuion on 1 tma, so could of been better.

Dreading the exam, anything over 41 and I'll be plzed xx

    Hi
I have just started a level 1 60 point course with the OU - I was given a grant for the course as I receive income support, however, this morning I noticed that I have been paid a student loan into my bank account and I don't know why or who to contact to ask why!?

It is actually a grant - dsepite the fact that it has come from the Student Loan Company. I'm not sure of the amount this year, believe it is less than last year. It is non-repayable - unless you withdraw before actually commencing study. It shouldn't affect your benefits as it is considered to be for books(? - not usually needed with OU though), internet access, travel to tutorials etc (anyway, don't tell the DWP...). You may also receive a Computer grant, I can't remember the process for getting it; how it worked for me was that I applied for the Computer Grant and got the other one without doing anything further.
