Does the financial support run by academic year? I'm waiting to hear about £585 for a course which is Feb 09 - Oct 09. So would I be able to do another one in Nov this year? I will get full funding, I earn waaaaaaaaaaay under the threshold :o

  • Hi everyone

Can you add me to the long list of OU peeps studying please?

Current / Past OU study consists of....
    * DD100 - Intro to social sciences - passed Jun 08
    * DSE212 - Exploring psychology - results due next week, expecting to pass
    * DD208 Welfare, crime and society - starts October 09

Aiming to complete BSC criminology with psychological studies, and then possibly onto an MSC criminology with forensic psychology. Looooong way away yet though!!

Hi, I'm waiting on my results back for DD100, have sent off my registration for this year using OUDBSA for S187 (10points)and hoping to get an ILA grant (if they can be bothered to send me a form:mad::mad:) for DD208 (60 points). Hoping to gain BA/BSC in Criminology/Psychological studies.

I'm currently unemployed after being made redundant twice already this year, am thinking of biting the bullet and doing an applied biomedical sciences course at college too this year which would get me the highers to go to Paisley Uni to get a degree in Forensic Science. Have already applied to do a saturday morning there this year which I could possibly count towards the degree when I get there - not sure tho :confused:

Wish I had gone to uni straight from school tho instead of doing carpy jobs
    NSD November 1/20 :money:
Crap 1, Simple Be, Next, VANQUIS, TESCO, VERY, EMPIRE, ADDITIONS, HALIFAX C/C, HALIFAX LOAN, STUDENT LOAN
Make £10 a day in November £34.57/£450

I'm trying to decide between K272 - Challenging Ideas in Mental Health and K225 - Diverse Perspectives in Mental Health. Anyone who's studied either have any feedback?

    Hello,

I've just signed up (hopefully - all the paperwork is en route inc the financial stuff) to do B06 - BA/BSc (Honours) Social Sciences With Media Studies.

Hoping to transfer 60 credits from my FD Early Childhood Studies Degree (had to leave early because of severe health problems) and then start with:
    (30) You and your money: personal finance in context (DB123) Nov-May 10 (applied for - will only do if my transfer is not acceptable as otherwise i wouldn't need it)
    (60) Introducing the social sciences (DD101) Jan-Oct 10 (applied for)
    (60) Understanding media (DA204)
    (60) Film and television history (AA310)

which leaves 90 points for a mix of the others (or 150 if I'm not allowed to transfer my credits) is that right?

    http://www3.open.ac.uk/courses/bin/p12.dll?Q01B06#op1

I've completed the financial support application for both - so I assume I need two copies of the form with the proof needed?

    Thank you :)

Sorry M2O only just noticed this post!

DD100 was ok, some of the blocks weren't that enjoyable, but had to do the course as part of the degree. Had it not been compulsory, I wouldn't have chosen it IYSWIM.

I can't wait to start the crime and welfare course - only a couple of months. It looks really interesting, and i love everything to do with crime etc (morbid, me, never, lol)

Waiting on results from my last course - due by friday but was hoping i would get them today, Really hard having to wait for them!

I'm studying K225 now, and am signed up to do K272 in November. K225 was actually my first ever OU course, although I had studied to NVQ4 previously.

I absolutely love K225. I enjoy every minute of reading the texts and writing the TMAs. Feedback I have seen suggests K272 might be a little 'dryer' but both support each other. don't forget also, that if you pass both K225 and K272, you will be awarded a Certificate in Mental Health and be able to use letters after your name.

I was also doing D171 - Introduction to Counselling and have just passed that. I found that much harder going than K225. D171 is much more wordy, and 50% of the TMAs required you to self evaluate. Still, I've passed it now.
