    Ah, thanks for mentioning that. It's interesting to hear. I'll ask for more information before I sign up for it. At this stage, I'm not even sure whether it's a compulsory module or not but hopefully, someone at OU could give me some examples on what I can expect regarding general reading and assignments.

    Thanks for the warning! I shall have a good think before I sign up for that! :o
    You can see an extract here on OpenLearn. Then This is an extract from somebody's essay which they really shouldn't be posting on the internet, but since they have you can see an example of what to write (I'm not saying it's a good or bad example, it's really just an example).

    In BU130, you don't learn anything new as such - it's about looking at how you do things, and how they could be improved. I did it a few years ago so it may have changed slightly, but all you got was a short booklet and then the rest was online exercises, so there wasn't really much specific to guide you. It was very much that if you already knew how to do reflexive learning you were good at it, and if you didn't the course wasn't going to bother showing you.

    But at the same time, it can be a nice break from other academic modules. You're not going to get confused over difficult theories, because there aren't any to learn.

    BU130 is a very marmite course. Some people love it - but more people seem to hate it. Personally, I couldn't stand it and had to drop it, and I changed my whole degree direction to avoid having it as a compulsory module.

    I know that they changed the context of BU130 when the OU changed the pricing structure.
    Its worth looking at the course description as they do give u a sample of the work x

    Hi all,

    Went to my first tutorial yesterday and only a few spoke which felt really awkward at times especially during the lunch break. I'm glad I went though as it was nice to meet some of the students on my course (B120) who I'll be interacting with in my TGF.

    The tutor was really helpful too explaining how to plan for the TMAs, what he would be looking for etc, so I feel quite confident in completing my first one at the start of the May.

    I can't wait to get stuck in!

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I have a list :) What are you planning to do next?

    I've just submitted my EMA, so that's me done for this presentation (hopefully, unless it needs to be resubmitted - which may be the case)

    I'm thinking either W821 (international law) or SH804 (communicating science in the information age) - haven't decided yet.

    SH804 is due its last presentation next Jan though, so that may decide for me as it would be the last chance if I want to do it at all.

    Decisions... :rotfl::rotfl:

    Noticed this too, just logged in to register for my first level 2 (MS221 :eek: what am I letting myself in for).

    Just trying to finish TMA04 for M140 (which I've hated for the last 6 months but was a necessity as I haven't studied with the OU for three years).

    Anyone else doing M140 or other maths module?
