Get a coffee, or on 2nd thoughts a brandy and chocolate.

Quick recap, last weekend started with really bad toothache coming from the area where I had half a tooth filled in January. Rang the dentist last week, in tears of pain, (ur alright jammy not a labour story!!), they suggested a special mouthwash that they happen to sell!! and ring back in a week, (meant to be tues), after a week of agony and a crap weekend not being able to eat properly, rang the dentist 2day, and the dentist is on holiday, apparently the reception staff didnt know.......

    Just of the conversation....
me - explaining the toothache and that I was told to ring back in a week
them - can u come in a buy another bottle of mouthwash, that was what dentist suggested last week
me-the mouthwash didnt work, i've been in agony, crying in pain cant eat, and as I explained last week I'm on holiday next week
them - we cant do anything your dentist is on holiday this week
me - I wasnt told this last week, can I see someone else this week
them - the other dentist is on holiday as well, you have to realise its her husband, the 3rd and remaining dentist is full, we didnt know they were both off!!
As u may appriciate I had steam coming out of my ears....... fuming....
them - do you pay for your prescriptions
me - no I dont, can I ask what that has got to do with the toothache if I need a prescription then i need it whether I have to pay or not
them - as you dont pay for prescription, ur an nhs patient, and the remaining dentist is full and only treats private patients
me - (trying to be firm polite and not scream in pain - when I talked it hurt more...)
I said I need to be seen I'm fully flexible when I can come in but something needs doing urgently, espically as I rang a week ago
them - theres nothing we can do we suggest u wait to ur dentist comes back next week
me - I can not wait till next week,
them - were see what we can do, but can not promise anything
me - if I do not get seen 2day or 2mor espically after ringing last week, I will contact the pct trust, the local mp, the local paper and the local radio and ask them would they like to accompy me when I come and have a sit in at the surgery.........

    10 mins later......
them - they phoned back, the dentist will see you, he is fully booked so it may be a case of waiting but you will get seen today, have u contacted anyone
me - not yet, but have all the relevant numbers on speed dial

took a book in with me, only had to wait 30 mins, the dentist went mad at my tooth, I should not of been left like that for a week, and the best bit is he asked who bodged the filling, (I had great pleasure telling him who it was), I should of been offered a root canal work with a crown, as the tooth was half a tooth and should not of been filled liked that, as soon as he touched the filling it fell out, so bless him, he said I could try the root canal but as its been left so long the tooth is liable to crumble and break, he apologised that he had no option but to take the tooth out, luckly its one at the side, so unless I do a wide mouth open smile no one will know.

Quite funny got home, looked in the mirror, and of course there was dry blood on all my teeth and lips, I was pale, looked like Dracula, and I fainted!!
    Spent the afternoon in bed!
It still hurts but its a nice hurt......

Its so annoying the things you have to threaten just to get somehere, so think I'm back on form xx

Sorry to hear about your dentist and the tooth mum2one. My old dentist was awful, fortunatly she has now left the dentist and I have a lovely one again. Last July I had major toothache, like yourself couldnt eat, crying cos it hurt so much and barely sleeping with the pain, I also had about three mouth ulcers around the tooth that was sore, so went to the dentist and she said that I was mistaking toothache for the pain the mouth ulcers were causing and made me look a right fool (I had train tracks for 5 years and a take out brace for 2 (had teeth like a hillbilly as a kid) so I knew the difference between mouth ulcer pain and toothache) needless to say I went back a week on in total agony and she said that she looked around my mouth last time and there was nothing wrong and asked if the ulcers had gone (which they had) so she took the filling out and it turned out that I needed a root canal, no word of an apology or anything:mad: . When I had the root canal done she dislocated my jaw aswell, to be honest with you I dont think she was a real dentist:eek:

Morning ladies, hope everyone is well. :) hugs to those who need them or want them :)

Well the world ended for my OH yesterday afternoon. His mate called (best mate since they were kids) and he was chatting away then all of a sudden OH threw the phone at me and walked off in tears :( His mate had asked how everything was and he couldn't even talk to him :( He spent most of the afternoon/evening/night in tears :( At 6pm I couldn't calm him down or get him to talk to me and I had to make a really hard call to his dad :( his dad and step mum came straight over and made him sit down and talk :( he has spent all morning in tears and neither of us slept very well last night :( I feel so helpless. Today is D day as he has an appointment with the bank manager to see if he can get a payment break on the motgage or to see if he has some kind of insurance. If that doesn't go well then we need to start packing up and finding somewhere to live. The wolves are getting closer to the door so to speak! :(

Hope you all have a fantastic day, I am going to go and play in the garden with DD whilst we still can, I may well not be around as much :)

well done for getting your tooth sorted but how dreadful!!

I really hate hearing about how poor the NHS is becoming it really upsets me!! Its such a fantastic thing to have free access to healthcare but then sometimes there are really awful and horrible situations like yours and Sugarspuns granny and I get really sad!!
