Sugarspun - sorry to hear about your Gran. Hope she starts to feel better very soon. It must be hard for you being over there but try not to worry too much, easy for me to say I know :)

I can well believe the way she is being treated though. When my nan was in hospital once, one of the very rare times nobody was with her, they gave her her dinner and just left her and then cleared it away and she hadn't eaten anything because she couldn't, she had parkinsons (I think, that's the one where they shake a lot isn't it, that one anyway) and she was pretty much blind. Another time when she was staying in a nursing home for a little while, they gave her salad and when I asked for to have something else because she had no teeth, they refused! Needless to say I went mad!

Some nurses are brilliant (like our furry! :)) and I have met many (i've spent a lot of time in hospitals with grandparents) but some are awful and I have no idea why they choose to work in an area that requires care and attention.

Mel - sending you lots of love and hugs and I really hope you win this month scrapbook thingy (I can never remember what it's called!)

I've been reading the thread today but I have been on a mad cleaning mission (god only knows why!) but at least i'm still feeling motivated and happy so it's all good :D

Hello to everybody else :hello: i'm going to send out lots of cyber hugs to anybody that would like one :D Night xxx
 Think happy & you'll be happy

Get a coffee, or on 2nd thoughts a brandy and chocolate.

Quick recap, last weekend started with really bad toothache coming from the area where I had half a tooth filled in January. Rang the dentist last week, in tears of pain, (ur alright jammy not a labour story!!), they suggested a special mouthwash that they happen to sell!! and ring back in a week, (meant to be tues), after a week of agony and a crap weekend not being able to eat properly, rang the dentist 2day, and the dentist is on holiday, apparently the reception staff didnt know.......

    Just of the conversation....
me - explaining the toothache and that I was told to ring back in a week
them - can u come in a buy another bottle of mouthwash, that was what dentist suggested last week
me-the mouthwash didnt work, i've been in agony, crying in pain cant eat, and as I explained last week I'm on holiday next week
them - we cant do anything your dentist is on holiday this week
me - I wasnt told this last week, can I see someone else this week
them - the other dentist is on holiday as well, you have to realise its her husband, the 3rd and remaining dentist is full, we didnt know they were both off!!
As u may appriciate I had steam coming out of my ears....... fuming....
them - do you pay for your prescriptions
me - no I dont, can I ask what that has got to do with the toothache if I need a prescription then i need it whether I have to pay or not
them - as you dont pay for prescription, ur an nhs patient, and the remaining dentist is full and only treats private patients
me - (trying to be firm polite and not scream in pain - when I talked it hurt more...)
I said I need to be seen I'm fully flexible when I can come in but something needs doing urgently, espically as I rang a week ago
them - theres nothing we can do we suggest u wait to ur dentist comes back next week
me - I can not wait till next week,
them - were see what we can do, but can not promise anything
me - if I do not get seen 2day or 2mor espically after ringing last week, I will contact the pct trust, the local mp, the local paper and the local radio and ask them would they like to accompy me when I come and have a sit in at the surgery.........

    10 mins later......
them - they phoned back, the dentist will see you, he is fully booked so it may be a case of waiting but you will get seen today, have u contacted anyone
me - not yet, but have all the relevant numbers on speed dial

took a book in with me, only had to wait 30 mins, the dentist went mad at my tooth, I should not of been left like that for a week, and the best bit is he asked who bodged the filling, (I had great pleasure telling him who it was), I should of been offered a root canal work with a crown, as the tooth was half a tooth and should not of been filled liked that, as soon as he touched the filling it fell out, so bless him, he said I could try the root canal but as its been left so long the tooth is liable to crumble and break, he apologised that he had no option but to take the tooth out, luckly its one at the side, so unless I do a wide mouth open smile no one will know.

Quite funny got home, looked in the mirror, and of course there was dry blood on all my teeth and lips, I was pale, looked like Dracula, and I fainted!!
    Spent the afternoon in bed!
It still hurts but its a nice hurt......

Its so annoying the things you have to threaten just to get somehere, so think I'm back on form xx

Its the 31st now :D so happy birthday missy. I can't believe (a) you were fobbed off with a filling when it needed a root canal (b) your dentists took time off together and didn't arrange cover (c) you were treated as a 2nd class citizen because you are an NHS patient (d) you had to threaten them to get anything done (if you were meek and mild you' have spent your whole holiday in agony).

Good on you! I am seriously considering employing you to ring the swines at B&Q for me!

Glad you are no longer in pain, god love you for fainting :)

If anyone asks dd what mummy does, she says she kicks offs........

have had some classic kick offs

Best was DFS yrs ago, we had a new settee, and when parents took the covering off it, there was a big split down the fabric, obviosly done when they cut the plastic, DFS sent one of there managers out, his excuse for the split, was that we had pictures on the wall and this caused the damage.......
I asked him does he put his settee 6ft up a wall to sit on, I won......... had complete me settee and chairs + £100 difference.

When I use to be at BK, I was always taking things back, the best was a bra to Topshop, my friends got a refund,,,,,, but the assistant said madam you have to realise that we dont do ur size and a 34B would be far too small (I was about a size 16 then).

If were in a shop my dad has a habit of walking off......he gets embarrased if I kick off, but 1st in the queue when theres a refund.......

Travelodge - I've had 2 sets of refunds from them........

If you any help with B+Q, pm me and if I can help the offers there. xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Thanks mum2one! Bless DD "My Mummy kicks off so back off !!" bless her! I am going to write to head office about B&Q as I've had enough of their bumbling fools who work in the shop (no offence to any B&Q workers reading) but they have well naffed me off today!!

Jamtart6 - Were they not 'Happy to Help' then? It never fails to amaze me how difficult it can be to get service in those places.

Mum2one - So sorry to hear of your problems with dentist - good on you for standing your ground. Do you not have emergency dentists where you live? Glad you are feeling better now so you can have a fab birthday.
I can sympathise with you fainting and the need to spend the afternoon in bed. Many years ago when I lived on my own in B'ham I bravely went to have tooth out they kept me waiting for ages so I was a bit wound up before I got in the chair. Anyway tooth came out (the first ever whilst conscious) and my first reaction was to say 'I'm going to faint' the dentist replied 'Don't be stupid' shovelled me out of the chair PDQ at which point I fainted. The nurses took me downstairs to sit by the back door 'til I felt better. No niceties. Then just when I thought I felt better & went to pay I saw a little boy white as a sheet with a hankie clamped to his mouth so I fainted again! I managed to get back to the flat can't remember how! & spent the rest of the day in bed feeling very sorry for myself. Moral - you are not alone!

    Happy Birthday!

    :bdaycake:

Glad you got your tooth sorted but what a !!!!!!!g nightmare for you!!!! There is nothing worse than toothache so I totally sympathise. Enjoy a pain free birthday xxx

Sugarspun - sorry to hear about your Gran I hope she is feeling better now. I am disgusted by the way she is being treated.

Where do I have to go to vote for PLM?

I'm going shopping this morning with my Nan she has decided to join the silver surfing brigade :rotfl::rotfl:so we are off to buy her and bampy a shiny new laptop. This should be fun she has never been near one :rotfl:. I'm going to be thrifty with her money and we are getting one from Tesco as she can get employee discount as my cousin works there. Next step is getting her broadband up and running and then the FUN begins :D

This afternoon we are off to Asda food shopping and I am very tempted to join the grocery challenge on here. I'm fed up of wasting money on food!!

Hope everyone has a good day x
