This is so complicated.
In 2003 my arrears were £7000 ish
In Feb 2009 my arrears are said to be £4000ish so I'm back on the 'phone.
Ok, my 19 yr old son came off the books in Oct 06, but my payments stayed the same. I was told I was still paying for him but the payment was being 'Phased' out. Beware of 'Phasing' it is only for old cases going over to new system. Then I find out my son was not affected by 'Phasing' so I did some maths.
Since Oct 06 I have paid £14919.39 yes thats £14k!!! This info from my wage slips as I am DEO
Deduct the £62pw over this time (£7254.09) for kids
Leaving an overpayment of £7665.30 which should go to arrears.
I'm trying to sort this but they just !!!!!!!! me and keep on taking the money.
I think but am not sure, that I'm on the brink of throwing in the towel.
Keep every payslip every letter every e.mail.
I will post again later. It may be of use to someone.

Im in a similar position m8, ive had a printout of what ive paid to CSA through DEO and the way they allocate the payments is inconsistent, ie regular maintenance is not always the same each month, also arrears some months they pay no reg maintenance and all of it to arrears! and vice versa0 -
You absolutely must get an arrears breakdown...its the only real way to verify any alleged debt.
and if a case is closed - its closed...they cant phase that. phasing only applies if the case moves from old rules to new rules because of being linked to a new application.
dont throw the towel in yet - get the breakdown and have them explain exactly how they have arrived at the alleged debt.0 -
Phoned up yesterday and they said the computers were not working, and I should photocopy my wage slips (18 months worth) and send them in as evidence of overpayment. My case is 'stuck' because its with the complex team and there's no time given as to when it'll be looked at. My latest schedule says its going to take £750 DEO this month. My protected earnings wont let it so I'll get into trouble with a non payment. I called today and the girl said that she could see there was an overpayment of 7k but she'd have to look into it and call me back. I don't know how many times I've left my details with them but they rarely if ever call back.
It sickens me to think these people may have families of their own. I sometimes hope that they themselves will suffer the trauma caused by the CSA.
I'll call again tomorrow and try to get a breakdown on all of my payments and exactly how much went where. I will then try tally this with my payslips and see where it gets me.
Why is that black dog following me around?0 -
when you get the breakdown of how you accrued the arrears, be aware that on my file what they would do is apply a charge which was my assessment plus something towards arrears-say £300 assessment plus £150 towards arrears, but if you are unable to pay/pay the full amount, they add the amount for arrears on to your debt again!!! Its like if you owe £20 and arrange to pay it back at £5 a month - then miss a payment - you then owe £25!!! I've already found this on my account to the tune of £1200!!!!
Also be aware they add one final payment on to your account whenever you have a re-assessment, so check every payment and its relevant date against the dates it should be.0 -
Thanks, I called this morning and the guy said I could have a printout of all payments made but if I wanted a breakedown of how the cash was divided and where it went I'd have to apply in writing. It's bullsh-it Just a way of holding me off. My partner is losing patience with the CSA and has begun taking it out on me. People do not realise the pressure of supporting 3 families. She thinks I should be out working another job, I already work 56hrs a week on a 7 on 2 off basis, I can't cope. I havn't had a good nights sleep since this began in 2005. Don't get me wrong money is an issue but we aint starving yet and we can still manage the bills. But how nice would it be to have a little spare to spend on myself. without that what's the point?0

Called today to ask if I have a caseworker with complex case team yet they said no.. so thats since the 18th feb. I then asked for a balance on my arrears and was told to my shock that it was £4635.59 shocking only because last week when I asked for a balance I was told it was £4510.79 so now my balance is rising even tho i am supposedly paying £300 per month extra towards my arrears. Who the fk is running this show and what are thier credentials. I think local MP will be on my hit list soon.
How can anyone move on with thier life if these scumbags keep grinding us into the dirt.
And as for the people answering the fone...well they give different answers all the time and while some can access data on the computers others tell me it's imposible to do it!!!
Arrrrrrgh!0 -
have you tried contacting your mp? I think you would benefit from someone pushing things forward0

If the case hasn't been closed then the arrears will keep rising so that really is the first issue, whether you think it is or not. After that the arrears amount should be fixed at an amount. This is assuming that you have no other children or cases of course.
The phasing does suggest you have another case and CS2 is awful at calculating the amounts correctly so it may be that the arrears amounts have been incorrect previously. The other thing that can happen is that the payments you make to two cases gets allocated incorrectly so one case gets more than they should.
It is time to speak to your MP to get them to look at the case fully to see what has happened and what else needs to be done. Keep them to the required timetables and get the case to go clerical if there is any suggestion that CS2 has been causing the problems.
Ask for an interview with a rep to go through the payments and assessments that have been in force throughout. I used to use excel to get a ballpark figure of what should have been paid, which made it easier to identify where the issues lay.
Whether you need to put it in writing or not you need a FULL account breakdown from the beginning to the end of the case, with a full payment list. (sounds simple but its like getting blood out of a stone)Nothing to see here :beer:0 -
