Help - Hubbies PC keeps crashing

Might the whole problem be related in some way to the optical drive and its connection to the PC? If the only thing on the CD is the ISO file and the machine is set to boot from CD there should be no problem. Do you have a thumb drive or something that you can try booting from (or another optical drive)?0

If you wnat the drivers for them you can get the here https://www.driverguide.com
and enter driver2 and all for account log in and then search sound card drivers
C-media then download the drivers for free and re-install them if you like.
I have registered with https://www.driverguide.com. Am I correct, it requests a fee of $1.99 to download the driver update for the C-Media AC- 97 driver?
I have been on to the C-Media site but I'm unable to find anything relating to the AC97 driver.
Any advice welcomed.
Edit, I have just found AC97 on the C-Media site but there are 3 items under that heading? I have run Belarc and all it states is that I have AC 97 driver.0 -

Its Working, Its Working..... Just running now on hubby's PC will report back shorly! :kisses:
Thank you for your patience! ( I was testing on my PC and my DVD Drive can be a bit tempermental, it ran on my CD/RW). Hubbies I had changed it to boot from the CD with the F2 button, but when that didn't work, we change it by pressing the F11 key and it ran straight away! Phew!!!!! I have several CD's and a few clumps of hair available...

Ok, here are the results....
210 errors on Test 7 (Random Number Sequence). What other information do you need?
Thanks

Normally, you'ld leave memtest running for 24hrs at least. Though you've got an error very quickly.
You've got two choices:
1. You can run the memory (and thus the PC) slower and see if the memory passes.
2. You can replace the memory.
If your memory is, say, 1GB then that is normally composed of two memory sticks, each of 512MB. You would take one stick out and rerun memtest in an attempt to isolate which one is faulty.
if you can isolate the faulty stick then you should try your games again and see if a problem occurs.
If you then don't have any more problems, you just need to buy some new memory.
Do you know the make of your motherboard? If not, I'm sure someone can guide you through how to identify it - from that you can determine which memory type your require.0 -
if you take the ram out to identify which chip it is, be aware that it is sensitive to static electricity, earth yourself on the chassis before you start, don't walk about on the carpet with it in your hand, wrap it up in a bit of foil, and put it in an envelope while you are doing the testing etc..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
