Well cards went out the window for this evening. We started watching a bit of footie and we both got caught up in it. That's quite alright though because we were still doing something together that we both enjoy.
Heading off to bed in a few moments. Kitchen is shiny and clean, stock is now in the refridge for soup making or freezing tomorrow. Time for a quick cuppa tea and lights out.
May you each have peaceful sleep and plenty of it tonight. You are all thought of and prayed for and I wish you each the best that life has to offer.
Hugs and more hugs,

Hi everyone,
I've just been tidying the kitchen and thinking about earlier posts - I've been around through two or three discussions on whether posts are or are not old style and in truth don't post much because I feel guilty about not being old style enough.
However, I don't think I'd read the thread if it were all about who baked what - I enjoy reading about your families and sharing in the happenings, both good and bad. In a lot of ways this board is like an old style extended family and I think that is something many of us lack. I brought up 2 children 200 miles away from my nearest family and it was hard going - I had to rely on friends to help and often wouldn't want to take them away from their own families if I needed to talk. The internet has changed that a lot and I would hate to see this board veer away from that.
WS I really don't think the comment that upset you so much was aimed in particular at you, please don't stop posting - I don't think that you can get much more old style than looking after a toddler day in, day out.
Moggins, I hope you get things sorted out,

Thanks Peyton. I was fine til my tooth broke again a week after being fixed. It's my front tooth and really knocks my confidence when it isnt looking ok.I have the possibility of job interviews if I am lucky and also 2 events where I will be meeting the public as a volunteer. When it broke I just got reminded of all the other rotten things in my life and it made me cry.I think it is just at this stage of life I am beginningto seriously doubt if I will ever know what it is like to be happy. But then again I dont really suppose that matters all that much. There is other more important things to be concerned about.
Your kindness is very touching tho. Thank you.
BTW I agree with you. I know this board helps me cos I have nobody around to give me a hug and the net provided me with the most wonderful friend I ever had. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Hi everyone,
I've just been tidying the kitchen and thinking about earlier posts - I've been around through two or three discussions on whether posts are or are not old style and in truth don't post much because I feel guilty about not being old style enough.
I felt like that at first too. When i lurked here i read a few posts where people were non too happy about the "chat" going on in the thread, but if there weren't any chat, i wouldn't bother to post here. This isn't a thread of our daily itineries, it's a thread of social communication as outlined in the first post each day.
I remember when my mum and our neighbour would quite literally chat over the garden wall, sometimes for what seemed like hours. It would include a little talk of what each family was having for tea, but most of the conversation was 'chat' and usually their chats took place between chores, when they were both hanging washing for example.
Similarly, people who post in here don't spam up the thread with day long chatter, we are productive people who are getting on with what needs to be done in the home and caring for the family but having a break and a cyber conversation is hardly veering away from the original purpose of the thread.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Someone else (Peyton?) said earlier that your comment was softened by the smilie, but Moggins in particular has a hell of a lot going on in her life right now and probably is feeling a little raw - not surprisingly I'd say. I'm sure your apology will be accepted in the genuine spirit in which it has been offered.
Nanny2DF good luck with your job hunting.
Thanks for this and also to JustPeyton who have tried to understand, and also to those who have sent me messages. :A
To those of you who are still cross, please don't be so defensive against me. I'm not on the attack.I keep seeing posts saying that all some people want is regimented Old Style stuff and ONLY OS...Well, I simply DIDN'T say that, and never have and never would.
I am obviously in the minority as to what I take the sticky of this thread to mean so I won't say it again. My words have been twisted in anger and defense but please read my post in context before commenting. Sybil, there is absolutely no need for you to stop posting.
So this is me.... unable to sleep and posting this here as I didn't want to drag it into tommorrow's thread.
Wishing you all a peaceful Monday.

Just my opinion, as an Old Styler rather than a Board Guide, I no longer post or even read the Old Style Daily thread as IMHO, the Little bit more has taken over from the Everything Old Style

I always thought this was supposed to be just a CHAT thread. Basically everything we can't tell each other on other more specific threads, we share on here. To me that includes family, problems, joys, etc. If it was just about what we do OS it would be no different from other threads
(and I would certainly not be popping in)

I'm with you on this Mellika. The reason i like this thread is that it isnt JUST OS and we can all get to know each other and get a little sense of the way other people live OS in their daily lives and not just tips and wrinkles with no personality. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0
