Nice walk at the RSPB reserve this afternoon - didn't see anything particularly exciting but it made for a nice walk. The scarily big & expensive lump of pork has been sitting in a low oven for the past five hours - it's smelling delicious and I had a sneaky taste a minute ago and it's gorgeous! :j Spuds are now boiling ready to do roasties, and I'll find some veg to go with it too.
I had a lok at Flylady earlier and wished I hadn't. Oh well, we've had a bit of a tidy and whizzed round with a bin-bag so far - the kitchen is decent at least as I tidied it to take pics yesterday, and MrEH will hopefully hoover later on - that's one of his jobs as being short I find managing our big heavy hoover quite difficult. I'll probably try to give the bathroom a quick shine up later too.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Well I did all of my chores for today and a couple I missed yesterday so feeling very virtuous. Made the greatest loaf of bread in the world:D even if I do say so myself, it rose beautifully, stayed in the tin (lol) and I even sprinkled some poppy seeds on top. It cooked beautifully and was lovely and crusty, just perfect to have with my HM soup at lunch! Girls had hm rolls for lunch, dinner was good, gammon joint on offer at Mr T, was really tasty, so much so that I've ordered 2 more for my delivery Wednesday as the girls loved it and so did OH and I. Some left over to have Pasta Carbonara tomorrow nom nom nom.
Spent most of the afternoon scratching my head trying to draw a pattern for a skirt to make for the girls, after chasing them around with a tape measure and comparing with skirts they already wear I think I have suitable pattern, its nothing complicated just an elasticated waist but I wanted it to flare out slightly to show off the lovely material I have got but without there being too much material at the waist IYKWIM. Anyway material is washed and waiting for it to dry, did want to start it tonight but gotta watch Dancing on Ice while doing the ironing (sunday night job!)
Hope everyone is having a good sunday getting ready for week ahead, half term here but OH is starting a new job tomorrow so early to bed tonight for us.0 -

I felt so grrrrrrrrr when I read your post. Flaming woman. I know it takes two but whatever happened to sisterhood? All those burnt bras, what a waste!
If you need someone to come and tell her what's what I am not known for my reticence. :rotfl:0 -
Princesstippytoes - Also duly noted. I'll try not to post my troubles here again unless I am fighting with the breadmaker0

Connection and speeds have been awful just lately.I found it very difficult when he was here as he doesn't tell the truth about homework and after a day teaching at college, with young people who don't always tell the truth about their course work (!) I felt exhausted all the time. Sorry to be a moaning minnie today.
Katholicos - Your jam and mincemeat tarts look fab! If you have any extras, you can always send them my way.Ohhhhhh, thanks so much for the recipe. I just found it when I came back to the thread to read a bit more. Will definitely have to give it a go.
Bargainbird - Sending good thoughts that your DH will retain (regain?) his job. Enjoy your evening out!
((((((((Moggins)))))))))) - I'd never think of judging you for your decisions, nor would anyone else. Just know that you have the support of us all and that you and the children are deeply cared for here. And did I mention we're a bit protective of you? Continued prayers for things to improve whatever you decide to do in the long run. Prayers for your dad, mum and all of you. I hope he improves very soon. Oh and if you'd like me to set this female dog-type person (no offense to any dogs,) straight, please let me know. I've been known upon a rare occassion to truly blast someone right off the planet.
Trazy - Welcome to you and I look forward to getting to know you.nesssie1702 wrote: »We'll probably both watch the rugby this afternoon. Good evening everyone.
It's been a lovely day here. DH, the furchild Bree and I headed out for a walk and ended up at Home Bargains. We did very well and kept the spend low. We got a few packs of a tomato salsa rice crackers for 19p each. We tried them when we got outside and they were delicious! I sent DH back in to get 10 more packs as he declared he'd happily take those instead of crisp! Better for him and I'll get at least 3 or 4 portions per pack.
I'd prepped the veg this morning before we went out for our tea this evening. We had a small roasted chicken, roasted potatoes, carrots, parsnips and onions, mash and cabbage. Mmmm I've stripped the bones and have the meat in the refrige to make sweet and sour chicken on Tuesday. The carcass is simmering away in the SC for stock. Afters will be the leftover of Thriftlady's chocolate heaven (I've renamed it) with ice cream. I don't know if I had too many veg on the baking tray or what but the roasted veg didn't quite come out the way I'd have liked them to. They were still tasty so I guess that's what counts.
I made a loaf this afternoon and it looks very good. I'm still amazed that I really can make bread.:rotfl:
Heading off to do the washing up and then play some card games with DH until bedtime.
Have a good rest of the evening everyone.
Lots of ((((((((((Gentle Hugs))))))))))) for all.

I can remember at least one person who came to OS and kicked up a fuss about anything other than OS being posted and then hasn't been heard from since.
It so easy for things to be misunderstood on the net since we can't see a person's face or the inflection of their voice. I truly like everyone on this thread and I like hearing about all the things that are going on in your lives in addition to OS things.
And finally, this is from the start of the first post each and every day...
" This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more."
Big hugs to all,

There is nothing more "Old Style" than sharing problems and getting things off your chest.
If this thread became nothing more than a regimented drill of tasks achieved then no one would ever post.
Have just had irreverant thought of an "Old Style thread" done the way some people think it should go!!!
Quick march! Hup!
"Make that bed!" "Polish the windows!" "Peel those spuds!"
"No talking in the ranks there!!!!"
Have a loaf in the breadmaker as running low, washing is in the machine and about to be put on radiators and might try making my own tortillas tomorrow as it is one thing I know DD(15) will appreciate.
Why can DDs (at a certain age) always tell you what they do NOT like to eat, but never have a clear idea of what they actually like?
Going through this for the fourth time I am getting  , even though I know that by the time she is at uni or getting shopping and cooking etc done for herself she will really appreciate whatever is done for her.
Hugs to sybil and moggins and everyone else."This site is addictive!"
