You are incorrect. The store that you mentioned was NOT obliged to sell the crates of beer @ £10. They were not forced to sell the items at all had they chosen not to. The fact that they did sell them at the lower price was absolutely at their own behest.

Yes you were right they decided to let them have the crates for £10 but could have charged £20 because they hadn`t payed for them yet .

I'd say it serves YOU right you greedy little so and so!!! People like you make me absolutely furious.

What people who take up what they assume are genuine offers?

I am amazed at the hate this guy is getting. This site is chock a block full of genuine price reductions orchestrated by companies to be used by customers.

Sure a 1p sale is to good to be true but stranger things have happened in the world of advertising.

Any company with IT and Databases containing vital information have change processes that an employee must adhere to before anything can be released or modified.

The person would have to be so incompetent that it's difficult to see how they came to be employed in the 1st instance.

That's not really correct. Yes, large retailers have change management processes which IT departments have to work with, but given the complexity of their IT systems and the huge volume of data and price changes, it's actually not that difficult to make a mistake. It's not difficult for somebody to accidentally key a zero in a wrong place for example when you're looking after an assortment of a hundred thousand stock items. Especially if prices are being updated overnight and you're a support coder being phoned up at 4am and have to fix an error in a matter of minutes.

Retailers don't have to honour mistakes. Sometimes they choose to as a matter of goodwill to the individual customer and if it's a reasonable amount. But once people start ordering hundreds of items then that takes away their flexibility because if they honour one person's order they'd have to honour them all. I can't see any of the large retailers I've worked for ever honouring a mistake that involves selling hundreds of high value items for a penny each.

Personally, as somebody whose job used to be ensuring all those prices on websites were correct, I would hate to have thought that one lapse in concentration could have cost my company over a hundred thousand pounds - my job was stressful enough already

so its ok for them to display wrong prices ??

One of the big food chainstores last christmas were doing a deal for 3 crates of beer for a £10, insted of £20
they had put up the wrong price, they had to let all of the people that had picked up the 3 crates to buy them

I know the Money value if abit different but its just the same.
There is no way whatsoever that this is the same. If a supermarket offers 3 crates of beer for £10 it is an extremely good deal, but it is possible for it to be done at that price, for example if they had just bought bankrupt stock, or a clearance line, or even a loss-leader to get you in through the door, so people could realistically expect to be charged that price at the tills.

It is not reasonable to expect to buy the Panasonic items at 1p each.

Thankyou for sticking up for me, like you said there`s enough people on here claiming money back and getting cheaper goods doesn`t make me any different.
This site is supposed to give people good advice and to help each other out

    :T
  • It doesn't really matter whether they are genuine offers or not, Quick! Grabbit is all about cashing in on pricing mistakes anyway, so I wouldn't take it too seriously.

  • I have only registered today
I was looking for a new Tv on a few sites on sat when i went on the panasonic site to find the 1p deals :D
  • I ordered a few items - yes!

But ... does that make me a criminal?

    No!

I obviously knew it was a mistake, but everything is worth a try in life!

I haven't had any cancellation e-mail today as of yet. Let's see what tomorrow's e-mails bring.

You are obviously going to take advantage of an offer.
Go down to your ASDA and refuse to buy anything on offer!

    Everything is worth a go!

Obviously if orders were honoured and it put the company at risk, I would cancel the order or send them back. I couldnt live with myself knowing I had put somebody like myself out of work.
  • where the blinking heck are these offers situated i followed the link clicked on different offers and come up with sweet FA please help
  • There's no point clicking on them when they have realised their mistake, days after they were first posted. Find new threads that have been started in the last hour or so and try clicking on their links.
Thanks to all who post constructively.
