  • No wonder the Earth is lacking water and energy after reading these two threads.

    What a waste of resources.
  • I change my kids PJ's when they are dirty....my kids are 2 and 4.

I guess to average it out, its every 3-5 days.
Obviously is they spilt something on them I would change them....but if not...then why create more washing for myself!

mine wear clean pj's everyday, sometimes more than one set depending on how early thay get in them.
as for ironing them nowt get's ironed in my house lol
Ignore reality. There's nothing you can do about it.
    I have done reading too!
personally test's all her own finds
  • This thread is hilarious and I think I'd win the Minger of 2009 award!:rotfl:

Bedclothes: Changed when I think they need changing - could be a whole month or more although I do change pillowcases more often as I drool on them! :o:D

Duvet & pillows: Never washed, just replaced when I think they need changing - got at least 6 duvets and goodness knows how many pillows!

Underwear: Bra changed every two/three days (depends on the bra and no, I don't hand wash bras), knickers clean every day and socks changed if I've worn them all day, but prefer bare feet so that's not often

Clothes: My clothes - washed if I think they don't look fresh, DH's clothes tops changed daily, trousers washed when they need washing (he wears clean underpants and socks every day)

Pyjamas: Changed when I feel like it, though if I have a bath a night I like to put clean ones on

Towels: In our bathroom there is one hand towel that we share, two bath towels that we share and towels are changed when I think they need changing - they get hung on a heated towel rail in the bathroom.

Ironing: I don't iron except if DH needs a shirt or something is particularly crumpled - everything gets hung up to dry promptly after washing and put straight away!!

    Bed:
I wear pjs or a nightshirt in bed with a soft bra because I have big boobs and I'm trying to stop them reaching my knees :o:D

In my defence :D I have a bath every day (occasionally twice if I need to relax at night) and I work from home now, so I really don't get that dirty! It was a different story when I went out to work as I had a complete change of underwear & clothing everyday and ironed my clothing too, but I worked in a very stressful job in a hot office, travelling abroad a lot and needed to look immaculate. When I started to work from home I realised it was mad to carry on like that and it took a while but I'm much more relaxed about this sort of thing now! :rotfl:

I think a lot of you are quite mad and have made a rod for your own back - plus you must have horrendous electric bills!:D

Each to their own I guess and I'm happy being a minger! :rotfl:
    Numpties...I'm surrounded by them...save me...

Haha This thread has been so, interesting!

PJ's - We all change them after having a bath/shower..so usually every 2-3days

Ironing - I try to never iron anything!!! I don't even own an ironing board, but I am going to buy one, because admittedly sometimes things just do need to be ironed...

Undies - Changed everyday. We all wear them in bed apart from dh. I have found that the nights that the boys don't wear them they wake up for a wee... I only wear cotton ones and have only ever had thrush once, and that is only when I was wearing tights for work a lot.

Bedding - Covers and pillow cases get washed anywhere from 1-3wks!!! Pillows and Duvets, I don't wash but tend to buy new ones every year or so.

Towels - We have hand towels that just get used for hands and faces, which get chucked in the wash every other day, but in between they are hung out properly to dry, not that they ever get that wet. For baths and showers, we will get a fresh towel from the cupboard and it gets chucked in the laundry straight after using. Because of the worms, and the athletes foot problems we have had in this house!

Clothes - Usually get two days out of most things, but obviously depends on where we have been or what we have been doing. I wouldn't wear sweaty/soiled clothes for a second day. But if i've just been sat round doing nothing n particular all day, there's not much point in washing them. The boys tend to throw themselves around in the mud alot, so don't often manage to get more than a day out of theirs.

I think I fall pretty much middle of the road, I am not dirty/scruffy but not obsessively clean either. And also find I have time for a life outside of washing and doing laundry:D

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.
  • PJ's - Kids every 3-5 days - same with me (no underwear worn at night as my mum always said you need to air your hollyhock and she is always right!) :D

Ironing - I iron my work shirts, the kids school shirts and anything I consider looks vastly different without an iron (this is on a need to wear basis - i.e. I don't stand and iron I simply iron items when needed)

Undies/Socks/ tights - Changed everyday - non negotiable!

Bras - Every 2-3 days (matching knickers? - depends on occasion!)

Bedding - Covers and pillow cases get washed anywhere from 1-2wks
Pillows and Duvets are washed when necessary - i.e. one of the kids has had an accident
I do sometimes air the duvets on the washing line.

Towels - We all have own bath towels and these are washed a couple of times a week.
We have a hand towel for washing hands - again washed 1-2 times per week

Clothes - Me - top changed everyday but bottoms (skirt of trousers may get 2-3 wears before washing)
Kids - tops changed everyday as they never fail to drop something down themselves - bottoms - may get another wear out of but again they usually go the same way as tops

I would consider myself a pretty clean 'well turned out' person (fair bit of client contact in my job so need to look smart for that)
I've found this thread really entertaining as I've never wondered what others do and now I know!
  • I am fairly dirty :rotfl: Mainly due to being dead lazy but also I think people are far too clean these days.

bedclothes: Change duvet every month and sheets/pillowcases every couple of weeks.

duvet & pillows: Never wash them but do get replaced every year or so.

underwear: knickers and socks daily but I wear bras for at least 5 days.
    I NEVER hand wash bras

clothes: Nearly always change my top everyday but more cos I always drop food down myself! I often wear trousers/skirts for a week. Boyfriend changes his clothes less..He only has two pairs of trousers, a jumper and maybe 5 t-shirts to his name.

pyjamas: Only wear them about the house and not in bed...maybe change them twice a week

towels: I change them every week or so. They very rarely smell even by this time.

ironing: I don't own an iron.

Oh and I don't wear anything in bed. I have a bath approx every other night (more at the moment though as I live in a cold flat and they warm me up) And I often don't wash inbetween baths either...I don't smell which has surprised many people who I have been out with who do smell if they don't wash regularly. I just think I sweat little and have a naturally low personal odour.
  • My Lo gets clean pj's every night. Only because I take him to the childminder in them in the morning. I am very lucky as well in the fact that she washes and dries them and gives them back to me at the end of the week and so the cycle continues. My childminder was sent from God I really wouldn't know what to do if I didn't haver her.

Well seeing as first my washing machine and now my tumble drier have packed up... I am doing my best at keeping my washing pile down by not getting dressed for 2 days... And seeing as it's half term at the minute DD is joining me in our quest... Pyjamas rule in this house! (As long as we don't have to go out...)
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Oh no, what a nightmare - have you been able to order a new one?
Last time my washing machine broke I ended up taking a few loads round to mum's.
Lucky it's half term at least!
