Because I'm not drying my face on a towel after DH has dryed his @r$e on it the day before !!!!
Towels smell when they are left to dry and I'd rather have lovely clean towels every day

    _pale_ Eww!

I must admit, I don't like the idea of sharing towels! I know we should be clean when we get out but the thought of wiping my face after someone has wiped their @r$e, or bits, for that matter! _pale_ Or, even between their toes, if it comes to it... _pale_

I don't have a problem with re-using my own towel though.

nadnad - I'm joining the mingers club with you - ours isn't washed every 6 weeks either - wish I was that fastidious but time runs away , doesn't it..:o . We share towels, and hang then up to dry in between on the radiator, so far we've not had any grotty infections, athletes foot or anything. The towelling mat on the floor isn't changed every day either. My excuse for this is a few bacteria here and there help us build resistance to more serious bugs, but maybe I'm just a bit of a lazybones after all!

  • We don't share towels for reasons others have stated. In fact we each use two towels, one for face and hands only, one for the rest of the body, so I don't see the need to wash them too often, just when they need it, every few days.
  • My 4 all have clean pjs every night. Two of them have eczema so normally have blood on their pyjamas and the other two just spill breakfast on themselves every single morning!

I never use a bath towel to dry my face anyway - isn't that what hand towels are for?

I have been and had a good old sniff at all our towels and they definitely don't smell., but perhaps that's because I always hang them to dry after using them.

I actually feel that I'm being made out to be an utter slob so I think I'll bow out of this thread before it develops into a slanging match like the water one.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • Haha, I feel like a hobo compared to some people here :D I only wash clothes when I can tell they're dirty (i.e. stained, crumpled or smelly). But I am an ironer which is wierd when I think about it.

Not gonna change my ways though :D

We each have individual towels which are washed every Friday. We have a hand towel in the bathroom for after toilet visits and a have a seperate one for my face and hair....unless the little one pee's on his towel we change and wash towels and linen on Friday's :D.

Is that for normal washing though, or for after a bath/shower?

I bath or shower every day but if I was just going to wash my hands and face, I'd use a small towel and not my bath towel iyswim.

consultant31 - I don't think our towels smell either but we hang them up as well.

I think they can go musty if just dropped on the floor for a few days but there is no reason why they'd smell of anything else imo. Although wet towels (or any wet clothes) can pick up cooking odours, I find.

But honestly, don't feel bad as it is just different priorities. And if you are a slob, then I am too! :D

Hand towels in our house are for hands.
Don't bow out of the thread--everyone has different views and no-one is right or wrong ;)
