Bedding Weekly if DH home or two weekly if he isnt (been working away)

Towels Two used every day but hung on rads to dry and dont smell, Changed weekly unless DH didnt do a good job with the soap before using the towel

Underwear Tights and socks daily. Bras I might only wear one for a couple of hours so it can be worn a good few times before it hits the washing machine. Knickers - rarely worn but if worn are worn just the once. DH clean socks and pants daily

Clothes So I might change clothes up to three times a day. Dog walking/slobbing around clothes, out of the house clothes and work clothes. Work clothes worn once as Im a cook and waitress - they stink at the end of a shift. Other clothes washed when dirty - dog walking jeans are deemed dirty when they make their own way to the washing machine. Most of my skirts/trousers and tops are hung up after wearing. Sometimes they get a blast from the steamer to freshen them inbetween washes (take out crumples) Dh is the same - dogwalking and garden clothes - till they stand up on their own, other clothes washed when needed - clean shirt everytime, trousers and jumpers - a few wears

Nightclothes rarely worn. Have one nightie for when there are guests. Both hubby and me sleep in the nude and have dressing gowns for the mornings. They get washed as and when needed (mine more then his as I get make up and stuff on mine)

Duvets and Pillows - new duvet every year - 4.5. Have a king sized bed and the machine wont take a duvet that big and theres no such thing as a launderette and taking it to the laundry costs more then buying a new one:eek:
Have new pillows this year - expensive duck down - will attempt to wash them
come the summer. I do hoover the mattress and turn it every time I change the sheets and steam it now and then as well

I iron EVERYTHING (well not undies or towels) I cant bear to see wrinkled clothes, esp when they arent cheap. I think caring for your clothes prolongs their lifespan and not washing for every wear is part of that caring. I never tumble dry anything either and Im wearing t-!!!!!! and jumpers that are up to 15 years old that still look as good as when bought.
  • I love this thread!!

BEDDING: wash duvet covers, sheets and pillow cases every week. As for the duvet and pillows themselves I have never done them!!!

TOWELS: OH and I have a bath towel each...washed every week t0 10 days and dried in airing cupboard in between. Hand towel last about 1 t0 2 weeks

UNDIES- clean pants and socks daily. Bras...2 to 3 days. Not sports ones though..every time I go for them.

PJ's- I have clean ones every 2 to 3 days as don't just wear in bed but slob about in the evening in them too. I am sad and iron my PJ's as I like them soft. When I grew up Mum would never iron them and I hated the creased, stiff feel!

OH and I were talking about towels the other day. We had been at his Mums and the towels are spotless whtie, huge fluffy things. I always had threadbare, stiff, hard towels growing up. So did he he reckoned but his Mum got the best ones out for us. When our house DIY is complete though I am going to spoil self to new HUGE fluffy towels and that is it!!

As for washing pets....now and then is needed to get rid of scurf and stuff if the brush won't work alone but surely too much washing is bad for them???

You should have seen how often it was dusted before the cleaner :o

Last week, she cleaned the oven and it needs a second going over this week to finish off the ingrained marks :o:o

Poor thing is even going to tackle under the stairs so I suggested she book in an extra hour

Edited to add: It sounds rather luxurious to have a cleaner, but it's only because I can't do it myself that I need help, and DDs can only do so much without living a life of servitude :D

When I had a cleaner it just wonderful. I was working abroad a lot every week and it was wonderful to come home to a clean & tidy house on a Friday night. What could be done in 3 hours was amazing. Mind you I told very few people I had a cleaner as I felt ashamed. :o

    Nope :D

I honestly dont throw away good clothes. I dont do throw away fashions, I know what suits me and stick to it. Clothes are predominately fitted skirts and tailored trousers with fitted jumpers and blouses. T shirts last for years if looked after well. One of my favourite tops is from Matalan which I bought when they first showed up on the high street in the mid 80's.

Jeans would be the only item of clothing that would really alter in shape and style as I get through a few pairs a year
  • Do you wear underwired bras to bed? I remember my mum harping on about breast tissue damage when I was younger, so consquently I don't wear them to bed. I don't wear knickers either.... to bed that is!
  • Me neither minimoneysaver. I like to let me 'bits' breathe overnight!

Sorry pipkin, I thought you were pulling our leg! :D

She sounds a good one though.

How did you find her, out of interest? I think I'd worry about having someone in the house so they would have to be by personal recommendation iyswim?

Not that I can justify having a cleaner, more's the pity.

No, only soft bras - a bit like a combination crop top/sports bra in a soft stretchy cotton.

Underwear Tights and socks daily. Bras I might only wear one for a couple of hours so it can be worn a good few times before it hits the washing machine. Knickers - rarely worn but if worn are worn just the once. DH clean socks and pants daily

Suki1964 Can I ask why you don't wear knickers (just being nosey)?

With 70 denier opaque tights I find I get too hot around those parts and with working in a bar/resturant and now the kitchens its just too much to bear.

Most of the tights have a gusset so I really cant see the need.

Now if they have just a seam it would be a different matter
