I've bought in again at 65p, I'm reducing my average nicely. When the credit crunch ends and Banks start working again, there will only be four big ones left and I'll have bought shares in all of them at rock bottom prices.

Some people sit in fear of the sky falling in, putting their money in a shoe box and talking about hoarding food, other people see opportunities in turmoil and take advantage. I guess everyone needs to decide which type of person they are.

Bank shares might go down again over the short-term, but in 5 years time when all this is history, we'll be sitting on shares in one of Europe's largest banks.

I hope that you are right DD

I have been thinking much the same.

I know you have shared information on board before about how you personally buy and sell, but I can't find it:o ....care to share again? I like the idea of having the control over what my money buys and sells r, but have never felt brave enough, but what the hell....what's the smallest play you can make this with?

I buy an sell in my SIPP (Self Invested Personal Pension) but you can also use an ISA or just a Share Save account.

I'm with Hargreaves Lansdown because it was recommended on MSE.

I'm not sure if these are the cheapest per share deal though.

And I use Barclays Stockbrokers (http://www.stockbrokers.barclays.co.uk/). I just buy and sell over the phone (they invoice me, I pay the invoice, they then send on the share certificates). Mine are outside of a pension/ISA (probably not the best way to do it, but...)

Cheers ad. I hope so too, but I think that politically, the government won't allow it. They pretty muched forced Lloyds to buy HBOS and knowing that politicians are about the most corrupt people on the planet, next to bankers ;) we can be pretty sure that some assurances were given to Lloyds if they helped the government out.

Anyway, you have to speculate to accumulate and to be honest you can buy shares in pretty much any large company at the moment and be quids in in a couple of years or so.

As I said before, the timid are the ones who will miss out on this bonanza. Just like many of you guys are/will be cashing in on the HPC, I'll be cashing on the SMC (stock market crash).

But the stock market hasn't crashed yet - it looks that way but falls of 70,80, even 90% are not unknown :)

I wish you good luck though, at least you have the courage to back your convictions, although I feel they are misguided. Did you always intend to average down? Will you do it again?

I don't think he expected them to fall :D
