http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FYGmMzwJRASo our taxpayer held shares have just had 40% knocked off. Oh great.
Why couldn't they release this news earlier and taxpayers would own well over the 43% of Lloyds/HBOS banking group.
That would be nationalisation which is why the shares are so low, the government doesnt want them
Medicsight - where do you get these tips DD?
Btw Hl sent me a letter to say they'll give people 5% interest but you need a sipp with them 5k+Lloyds is set to unveil its full year figures on February 27, and is tipped to make pre-tax profits of around £1.3bn for 2008.Ah ha! Commercial property write downs.
I thought it was loans gone bad. In some way a write down of land value they still own (?) doesnt seem so bad.
Safe as houses has been turned on its head I know but land is supposed to be a good long term bet
This is probably foolish of me but everytime I hear about write down I think possible future profits, obviously they would have to survive somehow in the mean time0
