    Afternoon all,

Came home from work early as i feel quite ill, every bone in my body is taking its turn to ache, got into bed with a hot water bottle, and felt better being in the warm, but had to go out and collect dd, so got cold again.

Still home now, and lovely OH is cooking the dinner :A , so wrapped up on the sofa, watching come dine with me :D .

Candy, take care of that ankle, and get your self over to that scrabble game ;)

Pippa, where are you off to ?

Hugs to those in need, have good evenings all xx
  • Candygirl - hope you feel better soon but with a sprain the only thing is REST. Which is not easy when a grandma to be. Hope it feels better soon.

Lame Wolf - also, if you were anywhere remotely near I would happily donate the bananana loaf and (unless forcibly prevented) get little bear to give you a real (currently baked bean flavour) hug in exchange for perhaps some D&D and a good gossip.

I have signed up to take little bear to 'movement' classes (which could mean anything, really) but that is also as he is climbing up anything, especially where he shouldn't. It means two buses, and I am terrified, but I think I have a better chance of taking two buses to a class than walking to the end of the street for a social thing. But I have until 24 Feb to practice. It will be brilliant for him!

    Hugs to all.

Sounds like little bear gets plenty of "movement" already lol!;) Maybe it will calm down his adventurishness a bit?

Very gentle hugs to all, especially those with FM, cut hand, sore ankles, bruised knees and the rotten virus that is going round.

Made baked salmon fillets, roast potatoes ,asparagus and cheese sauce for tea and DD(15) is delighted that I baked the chocolate fudge pud again.

She is really impressed with it.

Still chipping away at DH to retire early and slowly but surely he is coming round to the idea. Just hope it's before the scheme gets plundered by Clown!!! or gets clobbered otherwise.

Going to have a cup of tea and see you later

Not much OS done today but have been to Mr T and only bought essentials - butter, sugar, milk etc!! This is a big step forward for me as I'm a sucker for special offers but I have to get rid of some of this food mountain!!

I have finished the nappy cake for the baby shower I am going to on Sunday. It's turned out OK and I saved money by covering a box lid in foil for the base instead of buying a cake board. I've also saved some of the bibs, bodysuits etc I bought to go in it for another time as I felt there was plenty in it already. Found some little pink boots in Mr T which I stuffed with cotton balls to put on the top. It's all wrapped up in cellophane ready to go complete with a big pink ribbon.

Off to rehearsal soon then hopefully an early night as I'm off to London first thing in the morning. Hopefully no more snow between here in Robin Hood Country and the bottom of the M1!!

Have a good weekend everyone!

    Hugs to everyone!

    Hi,

Sorry to rant but I'm furious  DD & her bf were in town this afternoon & saw his 'mum' and brother who completely ignored him & looked the other way    He's so hurt & upset it's taken me 2 hours to calm him down. The poor poor lad I don't know what to say to him apart from the fact that he's loved & cared for here. How any mother can treat a child like this is totally beyond my understanding. I wouldn't treat a dog the way he's been treated at the moment. There's been no contact with us at all from them, no offers of money to keep him (not that I'd take it), no thank you for doing this - nothing. It makes my blood boil. Rant over. Thanks for reading so far.

BTW my dogs have the life of Riley :D

  • Not had a chance to read all thorough but hugs to all those that need them.
MSD hopefuly you will have some news soon, you are in my prayers as is Tristan.
Sunnygirl - that lad is so lucky to have you. It breaks my heart to think how a family could treat their child like that. Grrrrrr!!
I'm making HM takeaway curry tonight and we're off to the farmers market tomorrow then having a romantic afternoon tea (yes i know it is commercialised and a cliche but any excuse for pink bubbly!!)
hope everyone has a peaceful and blessed weekend.

    Evening all
Just read back and what a lot going on today.
Had a sandwich while I read and now have crumbs all over my laptop, I'll have to turn it upside down and give it a good shake, its amazing how much falls out when I do that, ;)
CONGRATULATIONS r.mac on the birth of your daughter :happylove
hope you feel better soon redruby - and thanks for asking,we are off to Spain :j we try to go every year for a couple of weeks if we can. When we retired we said we'd try to have a winter holiday abroad each year, if funds allowed, and with a bit of saving here and there we have managed it for the last 3 years. How long we will be able to do it....who knows.....depends a bit on the "clown" but after all said and done we are very lucky to be able to do it,

Candygirl - ouch!!! try and take it easy and relax.

SunnyGirl - It beggars belief how some families behave. Thank goodness he has you and your DD to rely on, and he knows where he is wanted .

Diva - Tristan ((big hugs)) for you both today, things will work out you'll see x

(((((((((hugs))))))))) for all the poorlys, upsets, depresseds, and just generally down in the dumps today x

It would make my blood boil also hun. Your child is your child regardless of how they came into the family. You may not like some of the things they do, how they act at times. That's human nature with everyone. To callously throw him out, tell him he was not loved, wanted etc just makes me ill. He may be 16 but I truly wish his parents could be charged with child abuse and neglect. For that is simply what it is.

I do see it as a good sign tho that he came to you when upset and hurt instead of doing something destructive. Just goes to show how having someone that loves you just the way you are and believes in you can turn a life around. From one mum to another, thanks for being here for this child.

Lots of hugs and prayers for all of you.

    Peyton xx

  • Phew - what a week! Hugs to all those feeling poorly or just generally "down".

MSD - sorry to hear that your contact with Tristan has gone quiet - I hope he'll get over it soon.
Pippa - I hope you have a marvellous time!
    r.mac - Congratulations!
Sybil - don't beat yourself up over not feeling up to getting out. I grew up with an agoraphobic Mum, and whilst it meant my childhood was slightly unusual (the weekend after I passed my driving test was the first time in 18 years that Mum and I had been out together, just the two of us!) I don't in any way feel that I missed out. I think to children what they are used to is "normal" and other people's lives are the strange ones. LB is so clearly loved and cherished - that's the important thing.

Well as I said - hectic week. I unexpectedly had to spend the day on site on wednesday - 6.30am - 6.30pm with no breaks so that was exhausting! The chap I was supervising did fine though and we got the job done OK which is the main thing. Since then I've been working through my lunch and slightly late after work too trying to make up the 8.5hrs of "office time" that I missed through being out - oh yes, in spite of the fact that I was out on company business no effort has been made to ensure that my workload is managed! Had a bit of a spat with my boss over this today in fact - explained that although I know I'm good at my job, I'm not superwoman and shouldn't be expected to behave as such!

Bought a new SC last night - our original one was a wedding present and it's very good, but a bit basic - only one heat setting and I've always been cautious about how hot it gets anyway, I wouldn't trust it with raw chicken, for example. It also has rather a small pot which means I can't use it for batch cooking etc. We spotted one that looked good in Sainsburys last weekend - a 4.2l ceramic inner pot style one...for £19.95. In true MSE style I mulled it over for a few days but went back last night to get it. :T

Did a bit of a stocking up shop at Tesco this evening so the bill was a bit bigger than average - £33, could have been worse I guess. Farmers market tomorrow morning - got to get there early as MrEH's rugby team are meeting at 11.30am at the club for an away match! I'm hoping to get a big bit of pork which would do a good sunday and then several more meals, as well as the usual bacon, sausages, liver etc. Might pop to the chinese supermarket in the afternoon for a browse - I need more white vinegar.

Smoke haddock & crab chowder for dinner tonight, probably curry and the trimmings tomorrow night, and I will have sausage & tomato pasta for lunch tomorrow I think - I cooked two sausages that were in the freezer with this in mind.
