Still worth doing a search as there are £10 rooms still available for months in advance. Depends when and where you want.

Havent been to preston before but chose it as fairly central to loads of places including Blackpool, Liverpool etc

Pulled it up on Autoroute to check for car parks as the travelodge has limited parking and it looks to be really close to shops, train station etc -lots of amenities within walking distance so any tips on decent cheap and cheerful eating places that welcome kids would be much appreciated :)

Hi the lodge is about 10/15 mins away from the city centre , possibly easier getting the no16 bus which stops outside and takes you into the bus station , Close by is the National Football Musuem at Deepdale PNEFC which is free! Only about a 5 minites ride , great for any footy lovers ! . Preston has a great city centre home to HOME BARGAINS as mentioned on these threads opposite the Harris Library . The city centre has all the main shops housed in Fishergate which houses THE MALL AND FISHERGATE CENTRES parking vailable at both and has an array of various eating places . One close by to the lodge again just past PNEFC at the DEEPDALE RETAIL PARK is PIZZA HUT and THE TOY SOLDIER PUB which does a 2-1 meal deal .
If you require any more info just email me ... oh ps the lodge is situated on NEWHALL LANE at the top of the motorway junction (A59) turnoff , straight up the hill , straight across the roundabout and its on the right hand side within a big OLD MILL COMPLEX cant miss it .

  • Fantastic Lancashire lad - Thank you! That is really helpful - we would never have worked out the bus system and that will save a lot of walking with 2 whiny kids in tow :D
  • Its no where near the train station btw as that is at the other end of Fishergate in Preston . Also if you come out of the Travelodge turn right to the traffic lights ( HOMEBASE RIGHT OPPOSITE ) turn left there over the river on the right hand side is the CAPITOL CENTRE where there a full cinema complex , FRANKIE AND BENNYS MCDONALDS and a BOWLING ALLEY . Again this is only 5 minutes away by car . The no 16 bus if you use it is about 50p per adult again this takes only 5 minutes into te bus station which you then can get into town via the underpas and the GUILD HALL COMPLEX into the heart of the city centre . ( Might be something on at the Guild hall )
BLACKPOOL CLEVELEYS are about 30/1hour away by car or train , HE RAILWAY STATION is on the main line so a lot of cities are accessable from PRESTON .

    :j
  • Also there is PRESTON DOCKS which is lovely to have a walk around with again PIZZAPAN A CINEMA COMPLEX KFC MORRISONS PETS AT HOME MOTHERCARE and a fully working STEAM RAILWAY !.
Buses in Preston are ist class , passes can be obtained for dailey/weekly runs , i will get the websites for you and pm you . Also Preston has a fantastic Victorian PARK at the back of the RAILWAY STATION CALLED AVENHAM AND MILLER PARKS WITH JAPANESE GARDENS .
  • There are extra rooms avalible now that were not on the site a couple of days back.Mainly motorway services to the end of April by the looks of things, but, hey it's a tenner.

Well if you are only looking for a base any will do as long as you have a car---- Then the world is your Lobster!
Exeter is a lovely city and a very good base for lots of Devons attractions and at these sort of prices book early cos they will go fast in that part of the world.

    ... or Oyster?
