Anyway guys, on a lighter note,Mrs. P and I have just had 2 wonderful days in Cornwall celebrating my milestone birthday. Not saying how old I am but I will be paying less for electricity next year. So I will be starting a thread arguing that electricity prices can go down as well as up!!!!

And yes im sure i;ve been guilty too of nasty posts but seeing it on the other foot its surely got to stop.
Actually yes you have, and to be fair I seem to recall saying so at the time. Fair enough then.
Are you game to join in the reconciliation thread or not?Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

To Tell you the truth if that was all wookster and others had said I would not have started this post.
It was the anouncing of putting on ignore that made me think it was you (you had said this about me befoe a couple of times)
But if posters just find your posts when you are talking to somone else and start on you it is hard to make out you are not being paranoid.
(especialy now most of wooksters have been deleted by the mods)
I don't know what you have against me CF perhaps you should make that clear to me so I do not feel you are wookster.
Its month since ignore was mentioned. You know I pop in for a look-see if the debate are interesting. Its not usually a biggie to me.
"My problem with you" - you have a tendancy to drag things on and on, demanding answers to every single point, and other times you bite too quickly. Paranoid is a pretty harsh word to call someone. "Sensitive" may be fairer.
I 100% DO NOT imply any offence by now mentioning your dyslexia...but it 100% truthfully was mentioned by my OH just yesterday, that a work colleague who has been on some courses had enjoyed a positive shift in confidence and attitude, through being given greater confidence after a "dyslexia support" course - don't know the full name of what she went through...
I don't know a great deal about it, whether there are different degrees or types, but just wonder if a course or refresher (if you've already been through such a course) might be helpful - let me explain why...
- your posts, understandably, can be fragmented both in spelling and grammar, such that the accurate meaning of a sentence is lost.
- another poster then counters WHAT THEY think you meant, instead of WHAT YOU really meant.
- and then YOU have to counter their mistaken version of what you said, and before you know it everyone is confused and referring back to earlier in the thread to try and unravel where it all went wrong.
To be fair, that happens to EVERYONE now and them. Some snappy one-liner, forget to put the smiley on the end, and suddenly armageddon erupts - it has happened to everyone. Sometimes the sheer speed that someone tries to counter a post with can end up with mis-communication.
I get the impression that it happens to you with some frequency - and while it could be your style/character/attitude/"fiery red-head" nature (guessing!) or whatever coming through, it could also be dyslexia related.
Just a thought, sparked by my OH.
Of course, there will also be occasions where I and others have simply thought what you were saying was poppycock - and you do so in return - and so its difficult to say whether its 50% of one thing, or 50% of the other, and you end up being thought of as 100% of the two combined...
And maybe this is a weakness, or more accurately laziness on my part, that I just can't be bothered to take the time to focus on your posts. There are plenty of other posts, too many to get round as it is...
I know carolt offended you mentioning dyslexia, and hope I have not done so in too insensitve a fashion.
Although, that in itself is an example of "my problem with you" - you were carrying on the same argument across multiple threads. Report the dyslexia abuse, by all means, and stop replying to her thread...don't cart it round the board.
Few of us has the time to go through old threads and find out the source of the offence....that's what I mean telling DD "I'm not bothered who started it" - I can't trawl through 6 to 12 months of posts to see who is in the right. Its the abuse/insult of the day that counts.
Act upon it, then move on.
Anyway I think I've probably said more than enough. Probably not my place, in parts. My apologies in advance for any misunderstanding this may start.0 -
Theres some people who seem to become very upset when others dont agree with them. In all the time Ive spent on the internet Ive never seen one single person being argued into changing their opinion about anything.
All you can do is offer your POV as cogently as possible and hope it changes some other readers opinion, who isnt already entirely closed minded.0 -

Couple of good posts from Ruggedtoast and cannon fodder, both giving pause for thought.
It is difficult on a forum because you can't see facial expressions to know whether someone is having a huge angry dig, or just a bit of banter. Might be a bit easier if people don't feel they that certain people are against them no matter what.
I certainly feel that I might be given 'the benefit of the doubt' more from CF and Pobby (dunno of I'm right), but I'll certainly be less inclined to take sudden offense at any banter they send my way in the future.

If it helps I'm prepared to admit both my opinion and my course of action have been changed more than once from this very forum. Not by being shouting down or pedantically challenged by posters who cannot know my circumstances in fine detail yet challange it but by reasoned courteous and often out of the way helpful information both on open forum and pm
Challenging my own opinion is the only reason I'm here, not to challenge anyone elses - if I'm honest I'm a taker more than a giver
ETA: for the pedants, the changes I refer to have been not made soley on info from people here but have sent me in directions I wouldn't have gone without them. I'm the first to say people should not base decisions on what any old Joe on the internet says.and goodness knows there is a lot of misinformation too, but the things said can be a fantastic springboard to finding out for yourself.

DD: Yes, lets just keep the discussion on economy/house prices and not make things too personal.
I have less time to post these days, but do try read the posts here, so it is good to use this forum as a place to 'get clued up' on how things are going etc. So keep up the good reporting/discussion guys.... and as with all discussions it wouldnt be a discussion without both sides.0
