The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) has provided the Youth Hostel Association, via the Doit4real with money to run activity-based summer camps for kids. Camps include Action Adventure, Performing Arts and Water Sports Plus. Several thousand places are available on camps in England for 10-16 year olds. These normally cost £299 yet until 19 July it's offering places at £99 each (£49 if you're on benefits).
Unfortunately you can't use Tesco Clubcard Vouchers to pay while this offer is on.
What camps are available?
Camps are available to all 10 to 16 year olds who normally live in England and operate in 26 locations across England. They start on 19 July and the last one ends on 28 August, and run for five nights/four days. The price includes travel, accommodation, food and all activities. For 17-19 year olds there's also a leadership course.
Many thanks to MoneySaver cher_john for spotting this was on again and posting on the forum about it. We've added this insert into the top of the post to provide a detailed researched explanation.
Back to the original post....
This great Summer camp is back online again.
Find it at: http://www.doit4real.co.uk/
This year' price info-
The £299 concession price is available to all.
The £150 concession price is available to participants from families who are eligible to receive Child Tax Credit.
The £49 concession price is available to participants from families who are eligible to receive Income support, Working Families Tax Credit or free school meals.
There are a limited number of places for return campers this year, so if you've been to camp before and would like to go again, you should book soon to avoid disappointment.
These prices are really great value for money as they include transport to the camp if you need it, food through the week, all the activities and some camps even include a day trip.
My daughter went last year so may not get a place this year but she really enjoyed it and it is well worth the money. 2009 dates and camps online NOW!!!

He'll have a great day. If he registers on their site he can try and make friends in their forum in advance with others also going on that date!! I believe it is all regulated and loads of the kids seem to do it. You can only view the posts if you are registered and logged in.0
