Free Dir' Enq? How is that possible? Many thanks for this, Heinz!0

I might be missing something here
but the way I have my calls to mobiles set up is through 18185 during the weekday (4p connection + 5p/min), through Primus (as the CPS) in the evenings (4p connection + 2.8p/min) and back to 18185 for the weekends (4p connection + 2p/min).

Further to my last entry, just spoke to Primus to discover their rates for calls to mobiles. Currently my CPS with Primus is under Primus Saver Option 2. The rates are (Day/Evening/Weekend per min all with a 4p connection charge):
T-Mobile: 11.7p / 5.7p / 5p
Orange: 10.1p / 7.5p / 6p
Vodaphone: 12p / 2.8p / 2p
O2: 8.5p / 8p / 4p
Virgin: 11.7p / 5.7p / 5.6p
3: 21.7p / 15p / 7.3p
So the 2.8p evening rate I quote is to Vodaphone only (on which most of my friends and family are on).0 -

Many thanks for this, Heinz!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Yes, it's really helpful. With all the choices, Wading through the possible permutations can seem a bit daunting at times -

Thinking of Primus / Post Office options as my calls are only about £5 a month. I understand no CPS available with PO, but if after 6 months I change back to BT, is there a charge ???0

The 3 cheapest all seem to be designed for mobile phones only.
Am I correct in assuming that the cheapest for land lines is 15p/min from the likes of 1899 (to which I subscribe).
I was just wondering whether anyone knew of some other way around these rip off numbers which are double or more than what you have to pay for 0870. They are starting to appear more and more now; even my local bus company is now using one.
