I know I'm very very behind the times here ..... I currently pay BT for my line rental through Option 1 and all my calls are paid through Skytalk with free weekend calls. I know I'm paying more than I should!!! and have therefore been looking at the Primus Saver Option 2 where calls are free in the evenings and at weekends which is when the phone is used the most. Firstly, am I looking a the best deal and secondly if the phone does need to be used during the daytime what's the best way of doing it? Help all these different options are confusing me!!!!0

Better still, click on the 'HERE' link in my signature below - that's the post I regularly return to and update.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

I do keep a copy of your referenced post by the phone and follow most of it's recommendations. However, for some users I think there is a good case to stay with TalkTalk as their CPS provider rather than move to Primus Saver. I am thinking of those users like myself who are retired and therefore make a significant proportion (in our household a significant majority) of their total number of calls during the daytime. I persuaded a number friends and family to use Talk Talk and the benefit of free calls to these numbers being free 24/7 far outweighs the benefit of free evening calls to all geographic which as far as I can see is the main benefit of Primus Saver Option 2 compared to the TalkTalk Talk1 option. For some there is also the (possibly temporary?) benefit of 30 minutes per month free calls to mobiles with TalkTalk.

A point well made and very understandable creddish.
The situation with Talk Talk (et al in their enlarged group) needs watching closely though IMHO. Although CPS is less worrying, I'd be very wary if I had moved my line rental.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
