SharonBugs wrote: »This question has been bugging me for weeks now!
My question is, can a shop/ company advertise something on sales price but yet do not have the stocks to sale?
I want to buy my kid a Yamaha keyboard, and the cheapest advertised is Toy r us, both in shop and online. But only online is stating "no stock". Hubby went to toys r us 3 times over the past 4 weeks, the shop floor is still maintaining "no idea when stocks is arriving" and cannot confirm if when the stocks do arrive, if the sales price is still valid. Apparently they have run out of stock since Xmas.
Can they do this? Can they continue to advertise it even tho they have no stocks to sell?
Kind Regards,
SharonBugs:o
I suggest that you contact Trading Standards,as this could break certain laws such as an "inducement to enter", (not sure about the term), but there is something along that line whereas the shop is inducing you in without the ability to provide the item(s)Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
 Thank you Derrick, will call Trading Standards, and check it out, then shall be composing a complaint to Toys R Us, hopefully, I'll get some results. Maybe this time, they will allow us to pay for it first, claiming the sale price and collect later.
Best Wishes

I would love any advice anyone can give me on the below problem. Thanks in advance.
I purchased a sofa from ScS in September 2008 on finance (finance with Creation Finance). After 10 weeks the sofa was delivered. In the first week we notified ScS that the sofa's brown dye was coming off on our clothes. ScS took 8 weeks to finally offer a replacement or a refund. They have stopped selling our sofa so we would need to choose a new one.
My two main issues are, ScS have offered to pay nothing in compensation/good-will towards the new sofa and if I want a refund they will pick the sofa up in 7 days, leaving no time to buy from another retailer.
I have a baby and cannot do without a sofa for 10 weeks the time it will take to order from another Sofa but ScS are insisting on picking up the sofa in 7 days or they will assume I want to keep the sofa. I have said I want to keep it until I get a new one or they can pay for me to rent a sofa while I wait...both options they have rejected. If I choose a replacement with ScS they said I can keep the existing sofa until the replacement is delivered.

At least ScS have agreed that there is a problem and have offered to replace or refund. As the goods are obviously faulty your legal right is a full refund.
As for them hitting you with a 7 day collection that I am not sure about, cannot find anything that says they can or cannot do it!
You said you bought the item on credit, was this arranged by ScS? If so then you MAY HAVE A CLAIM AGAINST the finance company as well! Maybe by bringing them in to the picture they may insist on ScS being a little more flexable. Have a look at the Consumer Direct web site (http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_you_buy/money_and_credit/bought-on-credit/)
Maybe worth contacting them as well, there is a contact link on the above web page.
Hope this helps a little

You are entitled to a refund.
You should be entitled to compensation for any damaged clothes, minus wear and tear maybe. (provide receipts and the clothes).
You need to write to them asking for compensation for the ruined clothes.
If they refused you could take them to the small claims court.
I have never heard of anyone renting a sofa.
WHY NOT ADVERTISE FOR ONE ON FREECYCLE. oops caps,in the short term.
If you buy a sofa at the moment-make sure you pay by credit card.0 -

I bought a £1500 tag watch from a high street jeweller three and a half years ago. It is a quality timepeice there for would expect it to last. Now the ratchet in the bezel has broken and it turns in both directions.Am I within my rights to quote the SOG's act and ask that they repair the watch, or is it reasonable that it broke in sutch a short time. Your opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.0

Oh dear, have I confused you?
This thread was in the 'In my home' board, the thread was made sticky so that it was permanently held at the top of page 1. That's where the thread was when you made your first post in it............until I moved it to the new location, the 'Consumer Rights' board............where it is now.;)
