  • Got 24 1st class stamps today. They did say 1st class rather than the price but they have this years christmas theme. They may look a bit odd in the summer, or next summer (I try & send 2nd class where I can) but never mind :)
  • The Superdrug offer is for packs of twelve First Class Christmas commemorative stamps (self-stick) . The offer is for up to five packs - although my local branch is allowing me to purchase ten packs! They seem to know very little about the offer and, from what I can see, would probably charge the full amount had I not brought it to their attention. I am stocking up for the next twelve months and beyond - well worth it if, like me, you are a busy secretary of a charitable group and send a lot of letters. If you buy five packs (60 stamps), you save 84p but if you don't use them until after the price increase, the saving will be £2.04! A very good investment in anyone's book. ;)
  • Went to Superdrug yesterday, asked if offer still on for discounted stamps, girl on counter said the offer had finished.

Do Xmas stamps cease to be valid after 12th night ? ;)
  • I thought I heard on the news that 2nd class post was going to be discontinued in the near future. If it is then what happens to my stockpile of 2nd class stamps. (The ones marked 2nd class with no price on them) I wonder? anyone got up-to-date info?

The best thing is to get them to scan them first to see if they are at the discounted price i.e. £3.19 for a book of 12 instead of £3.36 ;)

My local Superdrug told me they (presumably all superdrugs) had been doing discounted stamps at Christmas for years now. The ones that don't seem to know about it probably just scan them in and don't realise they are discounted. ::)

i went into my superdrug and despite the sign being just above the till saying that its 5 books per customer the cashier let me have as many as I wanted!
  • murphydavid asks what happens to his stockpile of 2nd class stamps if this service is done away with. Well all you do is buy whatever value is needed to make them up to first class.
Xmas stamps don't lose their value once Xmas is over. They continue to be valid until Royal Mail pronounces them invalid. (This probably means when King Charles takes over ;D). If you read my earlier comment about stamps with 15% (ish) discount, some of these stamps were issued around 30 years ago and are still OK for postage.

bought 2 packs of 12 today whilst the radio announced the 5% off first class stamps at superdrug in the background :)
Will probably get some more at the weekend. We've got 2 superdrug's in our town so could easily buy 10 packs but not that rich!!
