Postage Stamps 5% off until 25th December - UPDATED 24 Nov 2005

Superdrug are currently selling all first class postage stamps at 5% off - for all books of stamps. The promotion is nationwide and should last until 25th December.
Now you may remember last week I noted that over Christmas you should use second class stamps (see here). And this still stands. However do remember stamps work almost like cash, they don't date - so grab as many as you can and stock up for next year.
There is a limit of five books per person. However there is nothing stopping you going in another day and buying more.
If you spot stamps discounted anywhere else - please report it here.
Quick Update
Just to confirm the stamps in Superdrug are the variety that say "1st class" without a price on them. Which means even if the post office does increase prices, they can still be used as first class stamps!
Also it seems Asda are doing discounted second class stamps too.

Can I just add my 2p worth. Every year the cost of posting a 1st or 2nd class letter rises. Last rise was in April 2004, so expect one in a few months. I always make a point of stocking up on 1st and 2nd class stamps just before the rise. That way, you buy them at the old rate but can use them after the price rise.
GeoffNo reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
This only works with stamps bought in books and marked 1st Class / 2nd Class not ones purchased at the Post Office with a face value of 21p/27pHow do I add a signature?0

All 4 pieces of info here very useful!
1. 2nd class stamps just as quick as 1st class at Xmas
2. Superdrug doing 5% off (1st and 2nd class?)
3. Asda doing 1p off stamps (1st and 2nd class?)
4. Stamps available from Royal Mail, which arrive by Special Delivery.
Excellent - thanks!A penny saved is a penny gained0 -
Also worth trying is printing your own stamps
http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/onlinepostage?campaignid=smartstampbanner&catId=600023.
Download the software direct from the R M website, - It comes with a test program so you can get the feel of it before commiting yourself.
Once you sign up its £4.99 p/mth but if you cancel before the 4th month you get all this back. - All you pay for is the postage you use.
If you stay on after this they send you out £30 of Avery Stationery free.
If you post a lot of items its a great system ( Ideal for ebay sellers etc) - also lets you customise the 'stamp' with your own logo/picture etc.
Not sure if money saving but certainly Time Saving as you can print any value of stamp you require" He who knows does not speak. "He who speaks does not know. Lao-tzu Chinese philosopher (604 BC - 531 BC)

Hi
I went to Superdrug this morning to try and get the first class stamps -5%, They did not know any thing about it.Lizbee.;)0 -
I always buy the packs of 100 stamps from the Post Office then it doesn't matter how many times the price goes up. If you hear prices are due to rise, buy another pack before they do.
They are always printed just First Class or Second Class so can be used at any time. Initial outlay but it does pay off.
Will try Superdrug though !!
