I have had dealings with this company, i am on the west coast of scotland, we were approached and agreed to have our roof done, they did it after a long wait, no contact and no responses from emails, we finally phoned them and they came, we are on a hill so the back is fine but the front they painted over the moss and now its peeling, they did agree to come back and did so on a wet day to repaint it, the paint they use is water based, so i said no, that was a year ago and again no contact, our solicitors are dealing with it now, never again, nothing good to say about this company !

I Run a roof and hard surface restoration company, let me tell you if a roof cost 5000 to install on a average size house the jobs probably going to be very low quality materials and badly done. But on the other hand i could still restore that roof back to its new state for 1500. with a 10 year guarantee. There are a huge amount of restoration companies out there ripping people off and doing a shoddy job which give business like mine a hard time.

If the right materials are used. They are the following: Cobra 250bar pressure washer with turbo lance 1700 quid, Wagner Paint sprayer (the one i use costs 2100 quid) and the paint is 120 a tub covering 40 metres2 applying two coats. And any tiles that needed replacing. Plus Roof tiles new have a very narrow colour bracket meaning everyones roof lookes the same. How boring.

The thermal efficient coating have been proved by some very cleaver scientists to work. The issue is that it is being sold as if it keps heat in the roof space. The coating stops a pecentage of heat getting through the coating into the surface of the tile. therefore insulating the roofspace from external/direct heat from the sun. Used extensively in hot countries ($8billion worldwide) kinda puts some of the above theories to bed. The 5% vat is only an on paper saving like many companies have done since the increase. The payment to the treasury is still based on 20% capital input.
ALL companies back in Oz are now only fitting nan0-tech coatings to walls, tile, steel and compo roofs.

Take it from someone that knows, spent many years in the industry and did ALL of the research and gave up in the UK once the cowbays took hold. ITS NOT THE PRODUCT THATS THE PROBLEM ITS THE IDIOTS APPLYING IT AND THE PLONKERS OFFERING BIASED OPNIONS that is the issue. Having said that I know of no 'company' in the UK that does the process as it says on the tin. So don't do it is still the best policy.

Someone who know what there talking about, the cowboys have well and truly took hold now. But it makes my easier in some ways because i follow these rip off companies around and underprice there work by 60% meaning plenty of work for me. Meantioning no name roof restore uk

Well I was stupid enough to let these characters do the roof in March and was worried that i had not had this wonderful guarantee, only to find out that they have gone under.

Anyone herald of this company, THERMAL FASCIA AND ROOF of Glasgow and Larkhall, My parents have had work done and the state of the work afterwards is terrible, they came back and done some repairs, however after some storms in the last few weeks, some of the fascias have come off - we cant get them back to repair it... just wondering if this is connected to aqua shield, we are sure his name was Mr Gorman thanks in advance.

My elderly parents have just told me that they have paid a deposit (yesterday) to a Glasgow company called Thermal Coatings, which have quoted nearly £6000 for painting their concrete tiled roof and part tile clad walls. Although a 10 yr guarantee has been given, & the website boasts 20 yrs experience Companies House reveals that the company has only been trading since 25/03/2010.
Does anyone know anything about 'Thermal Coatings'? Any advice?

Painting your roof is like !!!!!! tarmacing your drive. Looks good when you pay. Thermal coating is a posh way for saying "painting a roof". Cancel the order immediately. Roofs are not meant to be painted. I cannot stress this enough and I am a qualified roofer not just a forum member who has read bad press about roof coatings.

Thanks Docmatt, I've been trawlling through the threads since I posted, as well as running other searches which appear to reveal connections between this company and ones that have gone into liquidation. Hopefully I've convinced the aged parents that they need to exercise their right to a cooling off period, and to get a local & recommended roofer in to give advice on options (since they are convinced something needs doing) The next problem will be protecting 2 unwell and therefore vunerable over 80 yr olds from the bombardment that will doubtless follow.....

Mr Gorman now runs/owns Protex Energy Solutions and Protex Thermal Solutions - operating out of the same premises as Aquashield. Two of the others behind Aquashield now operate PV Solar, Freeelectricity4U and Thermahome.
