Once again confusion and biased opinions. But before that good news, A Manchester based roof coating comnpany was fined £17000 last week for health and safety issues. They allowed workers to power wash roofs wihout ANY safety equipment, not even a cat ladder.
As they are/were a LTD they will probably just go bust and start upagain. As for biased, how long will the same four people try and influence the readers of this thread (me included).

The thermal efficient coating have been proved by some very cleaver scientists to work. The issue is that it is being sold as if it keps heat in the roof space. The coating stops a pecentage of heat getting through the coating into the surface of the tile. therefore insulating the roofspace from external/direct heat from the sun. Used extensively in hot countries ($8billion worldwide) kinda puts some of the above theories to bed. The 5% vat is only an on paper saving like many companies have done since the increase. The payment to the treasury is still based on 20% capital input.
ALL companies back in Oz are now only fitting nan0-tech coatings to walls, tile, steel and compo roofs.

Take it from someone that knows, spent many years in the industry and did ALL of the research and gave up in the UK once the cowbays took hold. ITS NOT THE PRODUCT THATS THE PROBLEM ITS THE IDIOTS APPLYING IT AND THE PLONKERS OFFERING BIASED OPNIONS that is the issue. Having said that I know of no 'company' in the UK that does the process as it says on the tin. So don't do it is still the best policy.

All the above can of course be done shabbily by 'con men' but at least they serve a purpose when done well. One of the reasons I am against roof coatings is my 25 years experience in roofing. I know it is never a good idea to do it. More damage is done to the roof applying the stuff with zero benefit and definately detraction from the value of the property.

This is the first time I have seen you mention the thermal properties working the oposite way ie to keep heat OUT in hot countries.
Now that makes more sense but is of little use in this country.
As for the scientists and the testing, like most product 'testing' it will have been done under perfect conditions and the 'scientists' will have been commissioned by the manufacturers of the product (probably):D

So don't do it is still the best policy

Which is what i, at least, have been saying since my first post on this thread, and that we CAN agree on!!

Aquashield and most roof coating companies pay 5% VAt to the Treasury not 20% thus putting millions in these companies profits. This is a FACT not a paper exercise.

Glad I read the postings, signed up to have the roof done back in January 2011, 3 weeks ago they asked for another £500 which I refused to pay and was told if didn't pay the roof wouldn't be done, wrote to head office no reply to letter so phoned was told they don't deal with it, it had been forwarded to the office dealing with the account, they are not answering the phone and their website not available. I have had a lucky escape.

We had a company at our door the other day called Thermoshield (or similar).

Same sort of bullying tactics though. My wife answered the door and the guy said "Hello Im so-and-so from Thermoshield" at which point my wife cut him off and told him we're not interested. Three times he had to be told before he finally gave up - but each time he stepped closer to the house!

If it were me I'd have closed the door in his face.

I now do not take up any kind of doorstep offers whatsoever after my close call with aquashield. OK, so I will use well-known companies such as kleeneze, avon, betterware, but those are catalogues which are usually stuffed through your door without having to deal with a pushy salesman. Anyone comes to my door wanting to give a quote gets told to shove their quote where the sun don't shine.

Incidentally, Aquascam wanted nearly £3,000 to do our roof - a local roofer charged us £100 to inspect our roof and replace the half-dozen cracked tiles he found - far better value wouldn't you say?

I have been working as a canvasser for aquashield, on 5 of April their office nr 01417727474 was turned off, so was their 0800 nr.
Their website was down for a month already. Aquashield hasnt paid any wages since 21.3.2011 to its canvassers, team leaders and even Managers. I urge anyone with information about the owners, to come up with their tel. nr and information about them. Mr John Gorman at his new place of business 565 Shettleston Road, Glasgow, Lanarkshire G31 5JT Were he runs Yet! another Roof coating company. Mr Tommy Dean is the second ex-owner(as the company is closed).
They havnt paid wages to my whole team and all others in the Area. They owe us 1000s of pounds as commission for sales, I am being owed under 1000£ alone.
If u have any suggestions or u are a victim of these man post a reply, what legal road should we take and how to organise for a mass lawsuit. Ponzi schemes are illegal and should be prosecuted, their place is in jail. Waiting for your feedback fellow man.

I agree with the previous post.
Anyone going around knocking on doors to drum up business is a pain in the butt!
If you will work for these type of leeches expect to be conned yourself.
