No it doesn't, it says if the price is more than £45 per square meter STOP.
It also says THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH CLEANING AND RE-COATING CONCRETE ROOF TILES.
YES THERE IS!! THERE IS NEVER ANY NEED TO COAT ROOF TILES FULL STOP.
The problem with all forums like this, is that an infrequent user has no way of judging the soundness of any of the opinions given. A pity that impartial advice on the subject of roof coatings seems to be non-existent on the web (where is Which when you need it?).
At least that figure of £45/sq.m. is a useful benchmark - the quote I am going ahead with is more like £30-£35 (difficult to be precise 'cos it's combined with wall coating).0 -

You are right BO, of course you can never be 100%.
However, there are enough negatives on this thread alone to give you a idea.
There have been plenty of warnings, the house up the road from me that now sticks out like a sore thumb has had a couple of visits from the cowboys to put things 'right', it still looks like a dogs dinner!!
I hope yours turns out ok.0 -

The wall coating is also expensive rom Aquashield. One of the regulars here IS a coating company who do walls for £25 mtr including repairs, etc and roofs for £21 sq mtr. (£46 sq mtr for both)The facts are simple. Aquashield ARE the MOST expensive company in this field. This does not mean that they are good, or have a good record on warranty and customer care. The fact that Lewie and a few others have their negative opinions is a bit like me saying that we do not need mobile phones, never, ever they are useless. Many companies manufacture roof coating, some of these companies are part of massive corporations that have the money time and technology to develop these coatings. I am sure that a couple of old F*arts harking on about their own personal preferences and knowledge must have the likes of ICI really worried. BUT do not use direct sales companies like Aquashield as they will charge 60% higher prices, and leave you with NO warranty. :mad:0 -
knowloads. ( or pehaps not?)
You have decided to get personal yet again.
Are you ill? Do you have a personality disorder??
I give my opinion and have only mentioned you personally when you see fit to use my name during one of your promotional posts.
We all know you LOVE the idea of coating roof tiles with goo.
That is your opinion and you are entitled to it.
I, as a knowloadsagable ROOFER, know that there is NEVER a good time to get a company to coat your roof tiles.
If your tiles 'need' coating, it means they must be porous, which means they have done their time, they have had it.
Get a new roof!!
No knowloads, we don't NEED mobile phones, there are many folk that don't have one. What a pathetic comparison.I think maybe you need to get a better grasp of real life. (See, any one can get personal, it isn't difficult or clever)
In future why don't you post and just give YOUR opinion? for that is all it is, an opinion.0 -
Lewie it is simply the fact that you have a biased opinion, you said yourself that you are a roofer, and that alone is enough to stop you giving any other opinion that would in reality put roofers out of work. My point is that the coating has been developed by many companies that would otherwise not waste time or their reputation if it was not viable and work. I have no economic reasons to like roof coating, (I once did) BUT if no one actually gives an opposite, factual report on this product, the few regular roofers who rant and rave about it would not allow other new readers to get the real facts. PS: Yes I have a personality disorder, I have this terrible affliction, and can only give an honest an non biased opinion. Dammed to know loads ,0

Having knowledge doesn't make me biased. The fact that I am a roofer gives me insight.
I have little doubt that this stuff can make a concrete tile water proof. That doesn't mean you should devalue your property by spraying it over the whole of your roof.
I would not buy a property that has this stuff on unless the vendor knocked the price of a reroof off the asking price.
The reason the companies keep making the stuff is because gulible people are buying it from pushy salesfolk.
You can give your opinion, that is what makes forums work, it is only when you feel the need to get personal that I have an issue.
If people find your info useful and choose to spend their money on coating their roof tiles, that is up to them.
I will always say it is false economy as, in my opinion, it devalues a property and in many cases costs MORE than a reroof.
No brainer!!0 -
I just had my roof coated and it looks amazing, I hope it still does in a few years. Give Aquashield a wide berth though, they have salesmen, surveyors, coaters, labourers etc. This means they charge a lot more than is necessary as they have more employees to pay. It's nonsense. They also guarantee the roof for ten years but they own the rights to the roof paint they use so if they go bust there is no comeback. I have seen many variations of Aquashield, it looks as though they keep altering the name so they don't have to honour the agreement (it was Aquashield ltd who done your roof, and we are Aquashield roof coating, for example)
Give Ecoshield a go if you are considering this. Much cheaper than the Aquashield quote and it looks better. Also they give 2 guarantees, one is a workmanship guarantee and the 2nd is a manufacturers guarantee (both seperate companies, I looked into this well in advance to make sure I knew what I was getting). So if the company goes bust your roof is still covered. Its always worth shopping around if your considering this.0 -
If you have a problem with your roof after it is coated i.e. storm damage - do insurance companies cover the cost of repairs, respray etc ?0
