To make numbers better they may declare 4 clients if 4 people live at the address.....but in real life it's only one roof.
Not disputing your point but some companies may be "enthusiastic" with numbers when touting for business particularly those with a less thna good reputation

Use a chain. That always puts them off.
Good idea Ed, I suggest a large motorcycle type chain!! :rotfl::eek:0 -
hi 1st time on here but i must say you have got a range of ideas on whether or not a roof clean and coating is a good thing or a bad thing . I have my own roofing company in staffordshire and we deal with all roofing and roofline work. Now at 1st i laughed at the fact that some companies started painting roofs, as has been said on here if your roof is damaged a coat of paint wont heal it...after looking into the 100% acrylic coating system i decided that it wasnt a bad idea...dont get me wrong... Its a terrible idea if not carried out right and for the right reasons...i have not yet had a single complaint in over 200 completed coatings... The reason being is that if the roof needs repairing or renewing we do it, tiles off , new felt , new lathes ..wotever it may be..many a roof repair involves more than a couple of tiles been replaced leaving you with a different colour on what is sometimes a good % of the roof,an example of when a roof coating would bring the roof to a more esthetically pleasing sight..(all my completed roofs look like new roofs with no patches , missed bits , streaks, and i try to keep the customers to the brown and grey colours as they are mixed to match in with the standard colour of roof tiles on the market.again this depends on the manufacturer of the paint.another example is if you have an extension on your house etc.. I would agree with most of you about the workmanship of aquashields employees ,, they are not trained or experienced roofers!(my apologies to the handful of aquashield workers that are, i have seen a couple of ok jobs.. But i would be wondering why the hell you are still there making fools out of yourselves because you have a dead line to get so much work done in a week and neglecting the fact that you can do a lot better) aquashield and recently another dozen companies are all salesmen from the double glazing game (fact) over 6 companies i know of opened over the past 2 years taking canvassers and salesmen from safestyle etc...so now you know y the prices are so high £40 per mtr last i checked.. ( i charge less than £10 per mtre for 2 coats as it should be)the fact that the product is a good idea and at the right price, for the right reasons and proffesionaly fitted!and can be a pleasing sight when you check your monthly bank statements is been overshadowed by these rogue salesmen and mates from the pub who they give a power wash and paint to ..i finished 2 jobs in sanbach last week and a chap came round and asked me if i could go and have a look at his roof.. He had it coated by a company less than 12 months ago and was wondering y it was going green through the rustic red colour paint .. Simple i said it hasnt been cleaned properly, they have used no antifugiced and the paint was watered down so you could see through it .. Terrible.... He paid over £3000.. I felt sorry for this guy so im going to re- do his roof for £400 which i think is very fair and i will class the couple of days labour as good advertising ... Remember if you are going to get a job done on what is your main investment in life get it done by a local business that has got good recomendations.. I always give my customers a list of previous addresses of where i have recently completed the same type of work they are looking for to look at .there is a lot of good roofers out there dotted about the uk that will do you an excellent roof coating for a good price.. Stay away from the companies that have salesmen and canvassers..0

rooferman1 You will not convince the few anti-everything brigade on here. Those who will call you a con-man, a !!!!!, a muppet etc etc then complain when you have a go back (Ormus). Good opinions are not what forums are for. There are very few in any areans that actually offer satisfied customers writing in. To put Victor Mback eldrew in his bath chair. My previous life in Oz (and far east) included coating roofs, walls , steel buildings, bridges, car parks,(yes floors as well, whatever next) airport buildings (flameproof coatings) and domestic concrete tiled roofs. Working on a average $ per customer over 25 years, that calculates to 997,378 seperate invoices. I made a million dollars and slept well at night. Now I am in the UK, retired, happy and still sleep well, assured that the victorian attitude that made this country what it is today will continue to ensure you all wear blinkers and ignore technology that comes form those foreign Jonnies, after all we have done it our way since the industrial revolution, we had an empire you know. As for keeping quiet about this mush.... how can I when Ormus keep bringing it up again and again. Us !!!!!, conmen just can't let is lie. 8-) Well done ROOFERMAN1 roofer doing coating !!! Shock horror, call the White House.0

you would have to prove the salesman misled you and that becomes your word against his, plus you signed to agree to the work/method and materials he explained.
I meet customers who regularly are quoted £9k upwards with pressure sales for external wall insulation on properties, what these customers tell me makes me mad, and yes is it conning the customer, they want 9k i can do it for 6k easily and im only in your property half hour.
Well so far so good. I did not pay the original quoted amount but instead gave them what i felt was a fair and reasonable amount plus a profit for them for the job..........I have written to them to establish that they will accept the amount but have yet to receive a reply.
i am more than ready for a fight on this one though, I have already had the roof inspected by a professional and he tells me that I should wish for my day in court because the work was sloppy and they have left damage which will have to be repaired in the future.
I think the most telling part of all this is their unwillingness to pursue me in writing, a sure indication of guilt on their part..........get it up ye's;)0 -
sorry but i wouldn't let any one on my roof unless it was actually leaking i know that sounds like shutting the stable door after the horse has gone but in my experience roofs have lasted for hundreds of years without any fancy paints put on them why not go into your loft and have a good look water marks or damp patches before you decide if there is marks etc i wood repair the roof not paint it if you have moss get a copper wire put up at the ridge it takes time to work but it does and its natural by the way i am in the building trade and worked on new and historic properties as well and they wouldn't let us use that sort of stuff but that's just my opinion they probably have a lot of happy clients0

Aquashield are liars, cheats, they are indeed from the double glazing game, beware of their scams or you will live to regret it that's for sure. Like I said the law states just don't pay them if the work is not of a merchantable quality.0

NO. It still is not needed on any roof.
It will devalue the property.
If your tiles NEED coating, your tiles NEED replacing.
Simple as and any other advice is given by those wanting to make a killing.0
