Help! Trying to pay my Vanquis balance off in full and when i enter the amount i want to pay as indicated on my statement [I am paying by debit card] its telling me "Payment cannot be greater than your balance" - Any ideas?
Pay it through internet banking instead?
Or try doing it over the automated phone system - 0800 781 6314

How much are you spending on it each month.

    I spend on BETWEEN £190- £230.

I always leave enough in there to cover the interest just if I decide to spread the payments. If that does happen, I always pay more than the min payment, at least 3x!

    Am I doing anything wrong?

So, you have an extremely low credit limit of £250, you spend about £200 a month on the card and don't pay off the full balance each month?

Seems to me Vanquis is doing you a favour by not increasing your credit limit. :rotfl:

Lets say you spend £200.00 Your minimum payment is £10, I doubt that would even cover the interest. You say you pay 3x the minimum. So you pay £30.00

So your left with say £70 available. End of the month you have the card say on £230. You pay £30. The interest, plus interest on interest. Your card is maxed.

Lets say they increase you to £500.00. You spend another £250 minimum payment will be £20.00. to £25.00 Within a month or two at most. The minimum will be £30 then £40 because of interest. They are unlikely to increase you. You clearly cannot afford a higher limit. It looks like your struggling to pay your limit at the moment.

I only have a £250 limit. Had the card nearly 2 months, but I've spent in the first month about £500 I've not exceeded my limit, first week of this month spent nearly £200.00 but paid it in full. Spent more again and paid it in full. Now I don't know yet if this will help me get a higher limit. I would be much happier with between £500 and £1k but they can see I can make larger payments So hopefully it will increase. The moment your paid, pay it in full. Even if your skint after paying in full.
Then carefully use your card each day for ALL your needs and not wants. Even little things that cost a £1. The moment your paid again pay in full. If your paid weekly, make a weekly online payment, stop using cash. Leave it in the bank. If you can't trust yourself to not draw cash, let your partner or mum or dad look after your debit card. When vanquis start seeing decent payments going in, they may just increase your limit. Because they will see, say £50 or £100 going to them each week. They may then say, we'll give him £500 he can clearly afford £250 a month. And take a chance on making some cash if he spends another £200.
I have not found out yet if this will work for me. But I'm sure that making bigger payments than a bit over the minimum will make them look more favourable to me than someone paying a bit over the minimum.

Another question. It appears you can't afford a £250 limit, so why did you get the second CC.
Also a question, DO YOU ever draw out cash on your vanquis.
