    Hi nps!hello.gif
How's you, hun? Sorry to hear about the awful incident with your little one and the glass door.redface.gif I'm sure you were in shock angel - we tend to deal with things at the time and then fall apart later.
    Anyway, just wanted to say...

    Hi guys!hello.gif
    You couldn't make it up!rolleyes.gif
Twenty of the world's strangest laws...
    20. It is illegal for a cab in the City of London to carry rabid dogs or corpses.

    19. It is illegal to die in the Houses of Parliament.
    18. It is an act of treason to place a postage stamp bearing the British monarch upside down.
    17. In France, it is forbidden to call a pig Napoleon.
    16. Under the UK’s Tax Avoidance Schemes Regulations 2006, it is illegal not to tell the taxman anything you don’t want him to know, though you don’t have to tell him anything you don’t mind him knowing.
    15. In Alabama, it is illegal for a driver to be blindfolded while driving a vehicle.
    14. In Ohio, it is against state law to get a fish drunk.
    13. In the UK, a pregnant woman can legally relieve herself anywhere she wants – even, if she so requests, in a policeman’s helmet. (GO FOR IT, JO - it's a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity!sport-smiley-001.gifaction-smiley-033.gif) biglaugh.gif
    12. In Miami, Florida, it is illegal to skateboard in a police station. (The cops are gutted!)
    11. In England, all men over the age of 14 must carry out two hours of longbow practice a day.(RUN!!! speechless-smiley-040.gifspeechless-smiley-040.gifspeechless-smiley-040.gif)
    10. In London, Freemen are allowed to take a flock of sheep across London Bridge without being charged a toll; they are also allowed to drive geese down Cheapside.
    9. In San Salvador, drunk drivers can be punished by death before a firing squad. (Once they've found enough sober ones to do it!rolleyes.gif)
    8. In the UK, a man who feels compelled to urinate in public can do so only if he aims for his rear wheel and keeps his right hand on his vehicle. (Some of them can't even manage it in a bathroom!confused-smiley-013.gif)
    7. In Kentucky, it is illegal to carry a concealed weapon more than six-feet long.
    6. In Chester, Welshmen are banned from entering the city before sunrise and from staying after sunset.
    5. In the city of York, it is legal to murder a Scotsman within the ancient city walls, but only if he is carrying a bow and arrow.
    4. In Boulder, Colorado, it is illegal to kill a bird within the city limits and also to “own” a pet – the town’s citizens, legally speaking, are merely “pet minders”. (I bet there's a KFC there though!biggrin.gif)
    3. In Vermont, women must obtain written permission from their husbands to wear false teeth.
    2. In London, it is illegal to flag down a taxi if you have the plague.
    1. The head of any dead whale found on the British coast is legally the property of the King; the tail, on the other hand, belongs to the Queen - in case she needs the bones for her corset.

I think it's quite common. I've seen signs at the gym re: people referred by their GP. I mentioned to my psych. that I liked the gym and she contacted the GP and he sent me a referral in the post. I'm pretty sure your GP would refer you as your therapist has recommended an activity. Either make an appointment to see your GP or ask your therapist to contact them on your behalf.

    HTH :)

  • Hello everyone

I've been struggling with depression for a while but only recently faced up to it. My GP has refered me to a CBT therapist who I saw for the first time last week and I'll be seeing again tomorrow.
Has anyone else had experience of this kind of therapy and do they feel it really helped?

    Thanks BK

If you'd prefer, you can visit your mp and their secretary will write up a letter based on your appointment. I don't think many people know how MPs work hunnie - including themselves sometimes!biggrin.gif In my humble opinion, they are there to represent their constituents' best interests and should champion any just causes of concern.

The trouble is I would be terrified at doing this and I think my OH would have to have a day off to come with me.

Write your own statement as to how your illness affects your life when it's at it's worst and why you feel you should be entitled to this benefit. You can look at some of your own posts here for some possible ideas.

I wrote a letter outlining my difficulties and the DWP and the Welfare Rights have a copy (I also have a copy too!)

Thanks for your help, Tiff. Because of my depression I just want to be left alone but, of course, life isn't like that. I wish the tribunal and all it entails was all over.

I have some close relatives who know me very well and I will see if they can write something outlining how they see my difficulties and how they can see it affects me. It would never have occurred to me to do this so thanks for the advice, Tiff.

Hope you are ok (you said you weren't very well) and feeling better today. :hello:

Hi Jess, Welcome to the thread. If you go to the library, they often have info on local events, or may be able to tell you where you can get such info. We have a walking club locally and I think there is a knitting club and all sorts of things. Perhaps your therapist or CPN (if you have one) can help you to find out about these things. My CPN found me loads of info on local events cos she was really keen for me to get out and do things.
Welcome to Butterflykisses, love the name

    Welcome BK! :hello:

I've done some CBT on my own as it's not funded here and they wouldn't even refer me for it saying I wouldn't get a place as there's no money thrown at it.

I've found what I could do by myself life-changing at times. I'm in the process of someone who would do it privately.
    This book is fantastic: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Feeling-Good-New-Mood-Therapy/dp/0380810336/sr=8-1/qid=1166110176/ref=pd_ka_1/203-4873442-8926300?ie=UTF8&s=books

This is a very good explanation of CBT: www.personal.kent.edu/~dfresco/CBT_Readings/Cognitive_Interventions.pdf -

Good luck and let us know how it goes. :A

Please think of me tomorrow as I'll be seeing my cpn for the 1st time since her text that upset me.
It sounds daft but I feel like I can't trust her anymore. Not sure whether or not to talk about it with her.

Doc has upped my meds and arranged for me to see the psychiatrist. The guy intimidates me a lot so hubby will come with me to the appointment.
