NSHN is a support site, through which we aim to support each other towards understanding self harm, coping with problems and increasing understanding both for those that self injure and their friends and family. With this objective in mind, NSHN hopes to reduce the incidence and severity of any form of self harm.

Hi everyone, I found this info online, thought you might find it helpful CWM? I would say that if I were in your position I would go to the doctor. Whether you are suffering from grief, depression, or maybe your grief has triggered depression, your GP is the best starting place to get the help and support you need. How you are feeling is not fun and there is help available.
Symptoms of Major Depression*- A depressed mood, most of the day, nearly every day, for at least two weeks
- Loss of interest in once pleasurable activities
- Significant weight loss or gain
- Excessive sleep or the opposite, insomnia
- An abnormal speeding or slowing of motor skills
- Excessive fatigue, with no discernible cause
- Feelings of worthlessness and/or inappropriate guilt
- Diminished ability to concentrate
- Recurring thoughts of ending it all
* This list is presented to serve as an overview and not to provide a basis for making a self-diagnosis. Also, some of the symptoms by themselves may be symptoms of other problems besides depression.
This info was found on this website: www.watchtower.org
I find their articles very helpful for dealing with my feelings and hope noone minds me posting this link - I've never posted a link before so hope it's ok.
Some of the articles on there that I've found useful are:
How Can I Control My Emotions?
How Can I Stop Hurting Myself?
Living With a Mood Disorder
Hope for Sufferers
Why People Give Up on Life
They are easy to find if you type 'depression' or 'cutting' into the search box on the site.
Lots of love to you all especially RBK and SP. Sounds like you are really going through it. I agree that you need to try to distract yourself, I try to do this when I'm going through a bad time. Thinking about it only makes it worse. I'm so glad we have this thread so we can say how we feel, talking about how we are feeling is so important. Don't worry about getting a post deleted, just say how you feel. If it gets deleted that's a shame, but at least you have got it off your chest! If things get too bad, then definately get in touch with the professionals, the Samaritans or your GP/CPN if you have one.
I haven't posted for a while, not been too good. Am getting over a nasty virus and now have a cold! Things are ok mentally, not great but ok. I've got next week off work which is a big relief. I've been trying to struggle on with it despite feeling ill, and realised on Wed that I just need to rest, so arranged a week off. I'm going a bit mad being stuck in so much, never thought I would get bored watching TV and being at home! I guess that means I'm getting better! I'm ill enough to not want to do anything, but well enough to be bored and grouchy!
Hope everyone is doing ok now, hope this has helped a little bit xx"Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together."

here's to drinking another day of hurt away.....while my housemates, including my recently ex-boyfriend, sit downstairs watching top gear, not giving a damn about me
makes me want to do something really stupid, just to see if they'd notice or if they cared0 -

I hope you feel able to cope again soon. Try to look after your body, if you feel rubbish physically it can make you feel more down.
I've often felt like doing something stupid to see if anyone cares, but try to be strong. This feeling will pass, you will feel better than you do now. We all get bad patches, but they pass. Keep strong, fight how you feel, don't give in to your depression.
