Cheapest Red Roses for Valentine’s – the results!

You don’t need to splash the cash to show you care this Valentine’s Day. To help I've compared the prices of roses both in-store and delivered at the supermarkets. Of course some local outlets may be cheaper, but this is a great benchmark.
Cheapest In-store Roses At Major Retailers
After comparing prices at all the big retailers for a dozen red roses, I found the cheapest in store bunch was a bargainous £4.48 at Tesco available 12 Feb (the next cheapest was £7.99 at Aldi or you can get a bunch of six for £3.99 at Somerfield). And if you’re worried that supermarket roses don’t exactly scream romance, simply replace the packaging with some posh-looking wrapping paper.
Cheapest Delivered Roses
If you want to impress Ms/ Mr Right with courier delivery, Asda Online has 12 red roses for £15.94 including delivery, closely followed by Tesco.com* at £15.97. Through bear in mind that the price of red roses rockets at this time of year; so to cut down the price you could treat your ickle wickle bunny rabbit to pink roses or tulips instead.
For those wanting the stem de la stem, its possible to get 12 Grand Prix Roses for £35 at Crocus
Alternative Ideas
A wonderful charity has a balloons by post operation that is also a great prezzie and a sizeable chunck goes to help sick children. See this. Also take a look at the Great 'Cheap but Romantic Valentines Gifts' Hunt

I was looking at the site a little eariler, it makes mention of a £10 off code this would bring the price down. It is on the actual page.
Valueflora.com 12 Red Roses
I ordered from Asda in the end as it was a courier on the day. Added a teddy bear too
Hope that helps.Proud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................

No offence to Asda - but does anyone know whether they turn up wrapped in 'Asda logo' paper, as not exactly romantic if they do!! If they use plain paper I may use them.0

I had a thought you could always make your own paper roses which is technically free depending in where you get your paper from (recycle). Instructions can be found at http://danoftoasters.org/?sample=no&page=3&catnum=2 though this fold may be tricky for new folders.Em Tysoe
