I was looking at the site a little eariler, it makes mention of a £10 off code this would bring the price down. It is on the actual page.

    Valueflora.com 12 Red Roses

I ordered from Asda in the end as it was a courier on the day. Added a teddy bear too :D

    Hope that helps.

You scroll down the page at bottom, drop down menu,£38 say for 24 roses, and add the code at check out...code is on top of page in bright red writing....for £10 off....also go through Quidco for 15% cash back...which makes 24 roses + free chocs about £24.70 delivered :D

    ps.....Asda are doing a single RED ROSE @ a £1.00 from the 11th Feb instore :T
:T It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice. :T

  • I think I touched a raw nerve at MSE. My whole point is that inferior, low grade and cheap flowers are not good value, as in all probability they will not last so well, therefore are not a bargain, at any price. All the world is after red roses at Valentine's which is why the prices escalate so much - internet sites tend to be samey, so anything individual is not really able to be included or an option for them as they are dealing in numbers and logistics. Proper florists will have on offer lots of alternatives such as white roses, or yellow roses, or lilies or parrot tulips, and will be far more creative for you in the process, and without the wasteful huge cardboard box which comes as part and parcel of the courier delivered stuff, and which demolishes the wow factor as the gift is delivered. It is not about spending buckets of money. Enough said...

    Hi,
Looking for a cheap site in the US to send flowers to someone over there. Can't seem to find anything that is not overpriced. Walmart are ok, but they are not an option as my gf is very anti-Walmart.
Thanks if anyone can help asap.

Sorry Martin, this is the WORST Money Saving Tip I've ever seen on the site as it doesn't really do that. All it does is tells the customer about the price of inferior products. It is does not do it's job. These roses will be low grade, small heads and thin, short stems, possibly not a very nice shaped head or a very nice red colour, too. Best option for would be to buy one stem of a fabulous rose - with a beautiful shaped head and colour from a proper florist who knows about flowers. A single 1m stem of a seductive, beautiful rose (Passion's a good one or Grand Prix) may cost about £5 next week but what a difference. Girls don't really want tat, they want quality. There is no comparison - like comparing an old banger with a top of the range Aston Martin! or sacking with silk. Get the gist?

Roses are like anything else, you can buy cheap roses, or you can get expensive roses, there isn’t one price for all. Like most things in life you get what you pay for.

A florists profit margin is less on these type of occasions than it is generally through the year because if the flowers were costed as they would be normally they would be even more expensive. If your wife is happy with your £4.99 roses, then good for you.

I take it that you all think it is the florist who hikes the prices up for Valentines Day? If you do then you couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s the suppliers of fresh flowers that charge more. I don’t know if this is because they are profiteering, or if the cost of producing so many roses for February costs that much more.

Have a look at last years Valentines roses thread (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com...61&page=1&pp=10), and you will see everyone complaining about missed deliveries or quality issues.

I own a flower shop, and all I can really say to all of you who will have delivery problems and quality issues with the likes of Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Marks and Spencer is. SERVES YOU RIGHT, but maybe you’ll support your local businesses next year.

Supermarkets are muscling in on all the smaller traders in the ‘High Street’. They cherry pick the lucrative things to do, and do them cheaper and that’s what closes the independent trader. It has been shown by the number of complaints on here that in some instances purchasing on price isn’t best practise.

Fortunately because Florists do provide more of a service they have lasted the onslaught for longer. If you don’t use them and they all go to the wall who will be left to do what the supermarkets aren’t interested in? Like your funeral flowers or your Wedding flowers?

When you buy these cheap bouquets, all your buying is cheap roses. As Tesco have illustrated their ‘Finest’ roses are the same price as everyone elses.

  • MSE Martin is right!!

I can't afford buying roses this year, even if it is £4.99!!

Sadly, I am into debts and living on £100/month for food, together, me and my wife. I can't give £5.0 away for roses this year, just bcoz this fiver will bring me bread for the month ( at £0.25 each from Liddle, as Tesco value bread is £0.28 each, and you know now what kind of financial troubles I am in, if only 3 pence make a differance in buying bread)
I have been redundant over the past 5 monthes, no benefits, and looking for a cleaner kind of work till I can work in my field.

Thank you Martin for your understanding

    FlowerGirl, lucky you, Be blessed.
Be nice, life is too short to be anything else.
  • ...and if its definately the lovely grand prix roses you are after there is a good deal to be found at https://www.crocus.co.uk/valentines/roses/

    In their words:

These are 'the Dog's' ! The sultriest rose you can buy. The petals are like velvet and they ooze class! There is no other rose that comes close (maybe Baccarat) and you won't find them cheaper anywhere else. They cost £9 more at Asda, £17 more at Tesco's and £31 more at M&S!
    Am I missing something here?
when I click the link I see the roses and the prices but not the Grand Prix 12 Roses 37.90, is it just me?
