If you've been with the same provider for a while it may be worth checking if you are entitled to any loyalty discount. I've been with t-mobile for a few years, so they knock £10 off my monthly contract. As I'm a low user this has meant I was paying around £11/12 per month (I would maybe go slightly over my minutes or texts some months).
Thanks to reminders on this site I contacted them a few weeks ago to see if there were any better deals. For £15 pm I am now on their Combi 15 contract for 18 months (100 mins + 100 texts). Less my loyalty bonus that's a fiver a month.
There was no new phone with this, but as a low user it's unlikely you are interested in the latest all singing, all dancing gadget. For calls and texts, the one I've got is perfect!
So check if you are entitled to any loyalty discount. It's cut my bill in half!0 -
I'm currently using a mates old Razr V3. I'm a very light user on Fresh and usually spend about £3 - £6 pcm. I'd like a newer phone (just because... ) but new non-contract phones are v.expensive. I'm tempted by the Virgin £8.50 deal. With the cashback, I'll get a new phone for just a couple of quid more a month; I'll probably even get £20 on ebay for my Razr.
I'm not sure which phone to go for though - I'm leaning towards the LG because it has a 5mp camera; all the £8.50 deal ones are budget models that don't get brilliant reviews and a couple of friends have the Samsung G600 and don't like it - largely because it's fiddly to text with. Anybody got other opinions/experience of the £8.50 contract phones?0 -

I'm finding the same. Really like the £8.50 package but the phones aren't that great some of my siblings have some that are free and although they say 5mp in reality the pictures are not much better. I have just got a nokia 2760 and really like it so I'm thinking of getting the free phone and then putting the sim in my 2760 and selling the new one on ebay, in a hope of bringing the cost down even more. Failing that wait until some better phones are added to the offer.
At the end of the day all the phones that come free with the £8.50 tariff will be budget ones.
If any one has any suggestions, I would like to record video clips which allows me to record for more than a minute ( don't know if this is possible) and perhaps a better camera than I currently have.Kind Regards

I have just taken out a mobile 'phone contract with 'Orange'
it is for an 18 month contract.
this includes a Nokia 6500 slide phone in Silver (or a Samsung Flip in Purple)
300 x network minutes at any time
100 texts
Free UK landline calls during Off Peak Periods
plus 30 minutes Free Video messaging for the first 3 months
an Extra 30 texts per month from the Orange website
surely this tops the 'Virgin' deal ..!
I've just got off the phone from Orange, they could not do the Nokia 6500 for £8.50 a month.
Instead i'll be paying £9.78 a month. So 22p less than i pay already, as i pay £10 a month on PAYG.

I am already with Orange and I wanted another phone for my wife who is celebrating her birthday in two days.
I've just been talking with Rachel @ Orange who says this deal is NOT available with Orange.
Medicine Woman, Can you please let me know whom you actually dealt with.
Thanks
