I don't disagree with what krisskross said, but this board is not the place to discuss it. The OP was worried sick that she was going to be done for fraud! What is wrong with reassuring her that if she is telling the truth she has nothing to worry about in that respect? I'd want someone to do that for my son if he was that worried about something.
Discussions of Benefits Policy should be on Discussion Time.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

This is what I believe Krisscross is saying. Perhaps if we were a little more judgemental, the country wouldn't be in such dire straits as it is now. I have been stupid in the past, but I have always paid for my own mistakes.
This is exactly what I meant. By all means have as many children as you like with whomever you want to as long as you yourself can support them. Supporting your children in all areas of their lives is what being a parent is all about.0 -

KrissKross, please read Martins post about what this board is about. If you like, you could start a thread on DT about this subject, if you want to have a discussion.
OP - I hope you know that the responses you've recieved aren't what the site is about.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

The way we are going in this country there wont be enough young people in years to come. Maybe people should think about this before moaning what a burden on the state they are.
Who will look after an increasing aging population. Just because a child is born out of wedlock into a poor family does not mean he or she will not grow into a productive adult.0 -

There are thousands of pensioners out there who have done their bit for Queen and country yet are left to subsist on an inadequate pension often through no fault of their own (eg loss of value of pensions today due to current economic situation) and the reason we are given that pensions can't be raised? No money.
So maybe a money saving solution is to not allow unwanted/accidental additions that the taxpayer will have to support.
Duck now, here come the brickbats.
Not too late for an abortion and hence real money saving?0 -

We do not need to add to the population. People are dying of starvation all over the world because of overpopulation.
As suggested I have started a thread in DT.0 -
This country is already over populated. The world is over populated. This means we are running out of natural resources and destroying the environment. People are already starving to death. The planet cannot support an ever increasing population. Yet we have welfare system that encourages people not to work but to breed. This has resulted in welfare dependency being passed from one generation to the next. It has also resulted in cases like Baby P and Karen Mathews where women who have never worked have numerous children in order to claim benefits.0

The way we are going in this country is as Iv said we have an increasing aging population and in years to come we will be in a situation where there are more pensioners than young people.
Of course we have people who have never worked and live on the state but what would you rather we did open poor houses. Many people are ill educated and the jobs that were once the preserve of the poor ie mining, docks have gone.
Nothing is as simple as it seems. We will have a new type of benefit dependent, the well educated middle classes. If they can not get jobs what hope have those on the sink estates.
Cases like baby P happen in all social economic groups. Being poor does not mean that a child will be abused, murdered. It happens right across the board only it can be hidden more easily.
Our country has fewer births than ever before and although people are starving to death in other parts of the world we are not.Its our country Im talking about and in a ideal world nobody would be poor or starving.
Id like to see pensioners taken care of now and in the future but if there are not enough young people, what then.
Abortion , did Hitler not impose this on the Jews and gypsies and anyone who did not come up to his idea of a super race.0 -
Britain has the fastest growing population in the EU. It is estimated that there will be 77 million of us by 2060. A 25% increase
Problem is that the wealth creators and professional people like teachers, solicitors etc are being increasingly squeezed by taxation and have to considerably limit their families to what they can afford. By contrast those dependent on the State as their paymaster can have as many children as they like without having to concern themselves about the financial implications. The Government is artificially skewing patterns so the least educated have the most children and on it goes.0
