Personally, I think there is more to this than the OP is telling us.

A 'mate' that she only sees occassionally, who refuses to pay for the child he already has and therefore has no interest in, yet the OP sleeps with him, then neglects to go and get the morning after pill.......Yeah, right. Either the OP needs a few life lessons or there is more to this than meets the eye.
I know a quite a few people that have slept with an ex, it does happen, especially when you've had a few drinks, but the op has asked for advice re the dwp

And in an ideal world "mistakes would never happen", "we would all be born with wisdom", and "we wouldn't dream of judging others never mind sarky criticism".

  • thank you for all the replys especially the non-judgemental ones, i understand everyone has a right to their own opionion but since i didnt ask for advice regarding what had happened im not really going to get into that one. nor am i going to retailiate with some smarmy comment.

however to the ones who did offer good advice thank you :) i now feel a bit calmer and appricate the time that you took to help me:)

Well I am sure that the OP is now completely reassured that her income will increase considerably with her new addition so you have done your bit. Heaven forbid someone suggests that children actually need 2 parents, not a mother and the taxpayers.

krisskross, I'm sure you know I will be the first to agree that children need two parents (and imho, two married parents) and that ideally they shouldn't be brought up on benefits.

However, the OP has come on here asking for help, she is obviously feeling lost, frightened and alone.

There is really no need to kick her while she is down.

It may be against this persons belief to take a pill to stop the pregnancy. At the end of the day its for nobody to judge. I bet there are more than a few little mistakes that post on here. Nobody is perfect.

In my opinion the OP came on these boards looking for friendly advice, and i am almost certain that she could do without the judgemental remarks she is recieving from other posters, as if she is not going through enough as it is.

What I meant was, what's done is done, why do people have to keep coming onto threads with their opinions on OP's situation.
As for the latter part of your post, it's none of your business so why are you baffled? Do people question your sex life?

This could be argued as being part of the reason why society is so accepting of the idea that it doesn't matter what you do, as the taxpayer will pick up the tab; don't take any responsibility for your actions, as the taxpayer will bail you out! This is what I believe Krisscross is saying. Perhaps if we were a little more judgemental, the country wouldn't be in such dire straits as it is now. I have been stupid in the past, but I have always paid for my own mistakes.

Why on earth didn't you use the morning after pill if it was a one off failure of contraception? . You have I believe 48 hours to track down a chemist or an A&E department. And I would consider sueing Durex or whoever for supplying faulty goods.

    Totally baffles me.

I don't see the need for the above quote. What has happened has happened and the OP may not agree with taking a morning after pill. It's her choice what she does.
As for sueing "Durex or whoever", are you really serious with that comment!!

They won't take away your benefit or anything like that. Lots of people have children while they are claiming things like income support. He is clearly living at another address and that is all they would be interested in.

Good luck with your pregnancy, hope you don't get bad morning sickness.
I used to suffer from lack of motivation.... now I just can't be arsed.
